With interactive, hands on exhibits on Southwestern culture and the arts, you must visit The Heard Museum for at least and hour or two. My family just got back from Scottsdale and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would rank this museum up there with Chicago's Field Museum and Museum of Natural History. Highly recommend! more

After all the glowing reviews, here we were disappointed in the Heard. Perhaps we have been spoiled by the Washington DC Smithsonian's Indian museum which handles huge crowds with aplomb in its Native American cuisine cafeteria. The tiny Arcadia Gardens cafe had over an hour wait when we went in February and they were not serving outside. Luckily the museum... more

What a fun and fabulous museum. There's so much to see and do. We spent several hours here the first time (OK, about 5!) and have been back a couple times since for special events and the Indian market. The exhibits change a lot, so there's always something new to see. Plus the shopping is so terrific. There's so much... more

The Heard Museum is housed in a lovely Southwestern style building surrounding an open courtyard. Their main focus is the art and culture of the native people of the area. The collections are beautifully displayed, with very good labeling and accompanyting explanations. There are excellent free public tours throughtout the day. There is an outstanding exhibit of the boarding school... more

I have seen a lot of Native American artifacts -- some even in the wild state outdoors. I've seen enough museum exhibits of faded pots that I normally avoid those portion of museums nowadays. However, I read on Travel Advisor that this museum was very good, so I decided to go. There are many interactive exhibits here -- not just... more

My GF came in from San Diego and wanted to see this museum since she had studied Indian Culture in college. It was really fascinating and I learned a lot. I would like to go back and take the guided tour. I can't believe it was once the Heard's residence. The house the museum is in is massive and gorgeous.... more

I just needed to kill some time in Phoenix. I turned to my AAA book for recommendations and it was rated highly. The museum is kept immacutely...that was my first impression. There are free tours which last about 45-60 minutes, and our guide was very thorough. It was time and money well spent. more

The museum building and grounds were very nice, and some of the collection was great - but I didn't like having so many modern pieces mixed in with the ancient - though finely done, I have little interest in seeing a pot from 1990 - others may - I simply don't. Having them mixed in so much with the ancient... more

My wife is the museum type. I'm more into bumper boats. But I am very glad that we went to the Heard Museum. I learned a lot about the Native Americans, that I never learned in school. There are many original pieces of clothing, baskets, dolls, and jewelry from the turn of the century, as well as some stunning silver... more
