My wife and I have visited the park and St. Martinville many times. We have also stayed at the Castillio house Bed and Breakfast a few times. This place has so much history and is really beautiful. I'm originally from Baton Rouge, LA but currently live outside Charleston, SC after retiring. I've only visited Evangeline State Park twice even though my father grew up not far away in Crowley, LA.
