I went to Belle Isle for my first time today, in October. I did not grow up in Detroit, however, I feel that Belle Isle is the most beautiful attraction in the city. Gross is more like it. I have lived in the Detroit Area all my life. Belle Isle has been on the decline for many years. The city doesn't have the money to keep it up. They should let the county or State take over. I wouldn't mind paying a fee to enter as long as my fee goes for up... more

When I was growing up in the 1960's, Belle Isle, in the Detroit River, was a wonderful place. They had pony rides, a train ride, a zoo, an aviary, and other great attractions.
