This hotel is in a great location to everything. The staff was friendly. Our stay was in August and yes even Vancouver gets hot weather the hotel nor any restaurant etc... have air conditioning so yes it was hot. They provide a fan in the room but being very spoiled by air conditioning it was still HOT - not their... more
Oh dear! I wish I had read the Trip Advisor reviews BEFORE spending 2 sleepless nights here. Room was small, and very clean but the noise in the street absolutely dreadful! Not only are the SINGLE glazed windows paper thin but our room was on the 3rd floor above by the traffic lights. Traffic stopping and starting all night was... more
We are from New York, NY and visited Vancouver, BC for the first time in August 2008. Based on our experience at the Moda Hotel, we would highly recommend you find another hotel if you visit Vancouver as we had a very unpleasant experience at the Moda Hotel. Here are the reasons we would NOT recommend staying at the Moda... more
Initially I was pleased with Moda- it is a quaint and stylish hotel and very centrally located but ultimately it came up short in the area of customer service. It is also worth noting that the photos on their website are rather misleading- the rooms are indeed stylish as advertised but incredibly small- they were made to look much more... more
Just got back from this place and I've never been so glad to see my own apartment. Be warned, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING in this hotel. It was too hot to sleep on August 14. Not that we got much sleep due to the windows being ajar for breeze combined with drunks/addicts on the street screaming. It felt like... more
We stayed at the Moda before and after our cruise to Alaska. Our ship left from Ballantyne Pier so wanted a hotel that was centrally located in the downtown area with access to Stanley Park, Chinatown, Granville Island. The front desk staff was extremely helpful even offering us a Moda umbrella since it was raining and we didn't bring one.... more
This was only a one night stay while waiting to head out on an Alaskan cruise, but it was definately enough to form an opinion. The hotel is a in a old building that is in pretty good shape. The staff was friendly and helpful. No bellman so it is a do it yourself chore to bring up the luggage.... more
Some of the negative reviews made me worry about booking here but comparing prices made me go ahead. Nothing else was even close. One of my best decisions. The front desk had many faces while we were there but all were very helpful and charming. The elevator is indeed a little slow but after taking the luggage up we usually... more
My husband and I stayed at the Moda for 4 nights. We arrived in the night and the front desk staff were pleasant and efficient in checking us in. We had a room on the 3rd floor, facing the back alley. Not a great view but with a building that is only 4 levels you don't really expect one either!... more
