The Raffles Le Royal was a pleasant stay where most everything worked well, except the spa (see below). However, it would never compete for the best hotel we stayed in on this honeymoon, which would be the Oriental Bangkok, followed by the Victoria Siem Reap (see my reviews for more detail). Anyhow, I really enjoyed our stay though I found... more

It's really hard to characterize this hotel. The pool area was, as promised, beautiful, and the hotel has lots of character, but it has serious flaws as well. First off, we had booked a Personality Suite, which are all in the main building. When we arrived they had "upgraded" us to an apartment, which was in one of the side... more

I checked out of a disastrous hotel in PP after one night, and used a friend's corporate rate to book into a room at the Raffles Le Royal (which was cheaper!). This is a beautifully restored old hotel. The restoration is modest, so although everything works, and has a definite antique feel to it, there's no excessive decoration, faux-orientalism, or... more

Am probably going down hard on the Raffles but I was expecting slightly more especially given the premium prices that this property charges. The room was reasonably big with a nice balcony with a view over the pool. What I did not like was the horribly loud A/C (had to switch it off duirng the night) and the bad state... more

Marvellous colonial hotel with orignal black and white tlied floors and corridors. Super pool, but a very busy hotel. Had a pleasant dinner for a very reasonable price, breakfast was first class with lovely home-made preserves and everything one could wish for. more

I stayed in the Charles de Gaulle "personality suite" at Le Royal for three nights in early May. The hotel has a charming colonial feel without the run-down facilities that often come with that charm, the public spaces are pristine, the service is impeccable without being overbearing and the courtyard with two swimming pools is an oasis in a city... more

I stayed at the Raffles Hotel recently for 5 days and loved every second of it. My room was large, beautiful and clean. The private balcony overlooked the street and not the pool but it was fine watching the local street life. The hotel lobby was beautiful and everywhere there was staff who were trying to make my stay more... more

We stayed at Raffles Hotel Le Royal for 2 nights at the beginning of February. We loved the hotel. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a Landmark Room to a Landmark Suite, which had a small balcony at the front of the hotel. The room was large & beautifully furnished, with sleigh beds. The bathroom was also large with... more

I've been hearing about Le Royale Hotel/Phnom Penh for years & its website and somewhat recent merging with the superb Raffles management and brand name ignited my interest anew. With the exception of Burma, I know every country in SE Asia well and had been to Cambodia 8-10 times previously. The hotel is spectacular to look at from the outside... more

Raffles Le Royal is beautifully decorated with antique furniture in the common areas and the rooms. It is full of atmosphere and colonial charm. And it is very comfortable. The Elephant bar is gorgeous and the pool is lovely. It's a great oasis in a challenging, lively city. But I wouldn't say the service was flawless or necessarily world class.... more
