Meritage was an enjoyable dining experience. A vast seafood menu - the only downside was the fact they ran out of a number of things that night. Regardless, the environment is relaxed yet high brow, and the waiter accommodated us above and beyond. Had lunch at Meritage on 4/26/07, based on the rave reviews of various TripAdvisors' diners. Ordered the crabcakes apetizer ($12). Simply awful. It had a gluey-pasty consistency, was bland, and definitely not "fresh"--more like from a can. not so great... food lacked depth of flavor... kinda reminded me of eating at a sub par hotel restaurant... something about the squash, carrot and onion medely with the potatoes squezed out of piping bag didnt impress me. more

We wanted something special for our 40th Anniversary and we found it at Meritage - which was on the recommended list at Inn at Sonoma where we were staying. The food, wine and service were excellent! We ordered the half Maine lobster each. Compliments to the Chef. Perfect! We will definitely return! more

This restaurant is in the heart of downtown Sonoma - right on the edge of all of the shops and the plaza. It is charming and well decorated. Pretty bacchus glass hangs throughout the restaurant.
