I promised i would post about our experience aboard the 'cloud 9" with Captain Jason--Well, it was fabulous--hands down. I highly recommend this boat. Captain Jason is about the nicest person you will ever meet--we took a full day sail and went to three different snorkle sites that were all lovely. Jason let my 9 year old take the helm and was patient and wonderful coaching him thru how to keep the boat on course. As a mate that day he had Stephanie who was super as well--and who was able to make a great vegetarian lunch (a sort of last minute request I might add)--also on board are buster and sabrina two seafaring cats. All are terrific hosts (well, Sabrina i am not so sure about, she slept most of the time)

Jason is terrific, knowledegable about the area and the boat is very comfortable--shaded if you want or hang out on the bow for some sun. So, thanks Jason!!

If we are back over christmas, we'll certainly go out with you again!

Thank you for the post. I just booked a trip with him today. We booked a half day and sunset sail combination. I am happy to hear how great your trip was. We are looking forward to ours.

Spinny~ Thanks SO much for writing a report on your sail!!! I haven't booked anything yet....I was waiting to hear how your sail went first...it sounds like you had a wonderful time!! It's best to book day sails ahead of time, isn't it? The only thing I'm worried about is I'll choose a day when the weather is horrible, since we are going right in the heart of hurricane season....I'd be SO disappointed if we get rained out!!

Anyway...thanks SO much for the info!!! Do you have any more tips/suggestions for St. John since you were just there?

TNO--I think Capt Jason has a maximum of six people

Guitars-i would book it and see what happens--it's pretty quiet right now and if you have to rebook then it'll probably be fine-(if it's cancelled because of weather you would certainly get your money back)I know you will really love this trip--Jason really was all that.--also , keep this in mind--st john is a very tiny island--when we think of hurricanes,we often think of them hitting a state (much larger than a tiny island!) the probability of a direct hit is low--we got a bit of the blow from Gustave while we were there, but it was just a very rainy/windy night and a cloudy morning-

bring bug repellent! I have NEVER experienced mosquitos like that in any trip to st john --or anywhere else!--and that includes northern Ontario and Maine where mosquitos are the state bird!

I can't think of any other advice that hasn't been said here already----maybe this: if you have a chance do a night snorkle--I know that Maho Bay camp arranges them and if a recall they do them over at waterlemon--or do it on your own --just rent a light from a dive shop--

GO out to little Lameshur--and snorkle along the left side out to Yawzi point--it's gotten more popular since it became more easily accessible (paved part of the way)--but this is a really nice little bay--

Now we're in the process of seeing if we can get tickets on airmiles to go back for Christmas--that should be really crowded! have a great trip!
