Hi All,

will be in London within 3 days e.g. Thu, 16th

After walk along the Thames (route taken from www.londontourist.org/walkone) finished around Tower of London/Tower Bridge I want to get to Greenwich and first planned to take DLR from Tower Gateway.

Then I noticed that Tower Gateway is closed till spring 2009. Can you advice some other options, where I could start to Greenwich (preferrably by DLR)?

thank you in advance

DLR services from Bank to Greenwich should be running as usual.

For an interesting experience get off DLR at Island Gardens and use the Greenwich foot tunnel across to the Cutty Sark.

Another option is to take a boat cruise from the Tower to Greenwich and then take the DLR back. I took the cruise from Westminster to Greenwich in May and really enjoyed beign on the water and listening to the commentary. it's a great way to see both shores.

Get off at Island Gardens THEN walk to the water's edge before using the foot tunnel

We got the DLR from Bank to Island Gardens and did as Alanrow suggests. The view across the Thames is fantastic. We then returned to London via the Thames.

thank you all!!

again I'm amazed with promt replies and suggestions :-)

I think I'll use DLR from one of stations you mentioned - especcially as I'm gonna have my Travelcard so DLR will be included.

I also wonder what wheather will be like - according some forecasts shall be ok (+15C sunny) according others not (+13 raining...).

Seems usual as forecasts are concerned ;-)

rgds to all

We took the Number 15 bus to Limehouse and caught the DLR from there, maximizing our time on the DLR and very easy to get to from the Tower.

The number 15 bus stops on the uphill side of the Tower of London (away from the river), right next to a big section of the original Roman wall.

I'm a big fan of the route already described, taking the DLR to Island Gardens, following the signs to the foot tunnel and walking through to Greenwich. Then for something different, I'd take the boat back from Greenwich pier to Westminster.
