“Fantastic Time At Beaches Negril”

Beaches Negril

Aug 25, 2008

We got back a week ago from 14 nights there and it was Fantastic. Lots of things to do for both the kids and adults, we thought that being there for two week we would have gotten bored...but no way, I wish we stayed for three weeks....this was our third time there and will go back next year as well, the Beach and Pools are perfect, the staff were excellant with my 5 1/2 year old Daughter and really remembered her from the previous years, even some of the guest remembered her too, the nightly shows were great, the food was great and a special thumbs up to the people in the Seville, and the return guest barbaque. The drinks were great, my daughter and I drank Mickey Mouses all the time, Kids camp was great too, my daughter learned all about the plant life on the property and even went snorkling too.
I could go on and on about how fantastic the staff and the resort is but I will have to say one thing...about the negative reviews from others, the staff at Beaches Negril and the Resort are just beautiful, we had time to observe things and found that a certain percent of guest just expect too much, making messes on the beach, like just leaving cups and towels on the beach and pool areas like litter bug do and expecting staff to pick up their trash when there are places to put your trash in around really got us upset, and in the mill resturant (buffet)..guest really need to learn how to use the serving utensils and not there bare hands, we did find this a little disturbing but not enough to say negative things about the resort. Its a wonderful place and the beach is the best.....
REALLY. Check out the tours too...we did Dunns River Falls with our daughter...it was her first time and our second time climbing it.

“Worse than other Beaches vacations”

Beaches Negril

Aug 23, 2008

We have been to Beaches Turks and Caicos and Beaches Boscobel and LOVED them both. Traveling are me and my husband, and my two teeneage boys (16 and 14) When we got to the hotel we were told we were "upgraded" to a honeymoon room. When we got in the small room it was very dusty which my 16 year old pointed out to us(all furniture still has the layer of dust on it) and a dirty rag was lying on the table. We were also in the very back row of rooms. All I had on my mind on my vacation was to get a workout in every day. I was highly disappointed when I saw the gym. It had no walls so there was no air conditioning. No wonder there was not a picture on the web site. Boscobel and Turks had regular fitness centers so I was expecting the same here. We waited for our bags to be brought up because we wanted to get our swimsuits on and go swimming. We had to call twice and wait almost an hour in our room until finally they were brought up.

We went to the pool first. There was little seating around the pool as three sides of it were walls unlike Boscobel and Turks where there was seating all around the pool. I was tired of getting up in the mornings to reserve ourselves a chair at the pool but we had to do it. The big jacoozi had sand in it every time we went in it at the bottom. What we noticed the most when we went to the pool for the first time as a family was that it was not a clean resort. The walls needed painting and the pool tiles were old and cracked, chipped, dirty, etc. The stairs viewed from the pool were bad too. We had a family discussion at that time and decided we would make the best of the trip even though it was not what we were used to.

The service....for the MOST part it was good. Once my son ran into the pool and a pool attendant who did not know I was his mother yelled at him and told him to read the signs and that if he did it again he would be banned from the pool for life. He was not joking. Once my family signed up for diving lessons and were there first in line and the lady started to sign us up but the man behind us was tapping his fingers so she stopped in the middle of signing us up for what we wanted and helped him sign his family up for a snorkeling trip. The next day when my husband and boys were putting on their scuba gear she told them to pay attention when they did not hear her directions in the excitement. She was not the best when it came to customer service with a smile. Once I was getting a life vest for the lazy river while talking to my son and I guess the attendant thought I was going to knock the vests over so he told me to watch what I was doing. It was rude and my son commented that he thought some of the people there did not like their jobs hwere everyone at Turks and Boscobel were always happy and nice and must love life !

The scuba and snorkeling crew were great!!! The trips were fun! One of the guides took my son to the cannon under water.
We enjoyed the food. We loved the Last chance Saloon! The food was terrific for lunch and dinner. The apple pie ala mode was great. It was strange that every night the ala mode was a different flavor. The first night I had apple pie with vanilla ice cream, the next night it was some fruit flavor and the next two nights it was chocolate. That was disappointing. Apple pie with chocolate ice cream was not good. Speaking of ice cream...one of the great things my kids look forward to is the soft serve ice cream all day long at Beaches. They were "out" of vanilla the entire week we were there. Only one of us likes chocolate.

The Seville was da bomb! My son didn't have long pants so I had to take my husband one day and my son wore his pants the next. The first day we went it was not open on time and we waited 30 minutes past opening time but it was worth the wait.
The food was slow getting out but it was fabulous. Antwonelle was our waiter and he was terrific! He brought my fabulous mousse dessert out on o plate on his head and bent down to deliver it. Everything we ate here was SO GOOD!

The Kimono's was GREAT food as well but we did have a problem the first time we went. They cook up all the vegetables and different meats in front of the table (you sit with people you don't know) and each time he cooks the pork, chicken, fish, steak, shrimp, he places a few pieces on each plate so everyone gets to taste it all. Since he started with chicken and I told him when I got my 4 bites that chicken is the only meat I eat..I thought he would accomodate me by getting another piece or something. Every time he put another meat on everyone's plate I declined telling him I only eat chicken. So I left there very hungry and upset that I sat through all of that and ate 4 bites of chicken. I spoke to the manager and told her all I wanted was to eat and the food I got was great but 4 bites wasn't enough. She apologized but did not accomodate. Finally after we left my husband went back and ask her if they could cook me some chicken and she accomodated then. We went back the next night and they cooked me a piece of extra chicken and the people we sat with were vegetarian so they accomodated him as well. Marlon was the chef that night and he rocked!!!!

THE BEACH was the very best part. It was beautiful and I hated to leave it. That was the only thing that surpassed the Boscobel and Turks vacation was the beach was bigger and better!

I guess if we had taken this vacation first our standards would not have been so high. But if we had taken this vacation first we may not have ever taken another Beaches Vacation either. You know the saying that youdon't know what you have....well we never noticed any flaws at Boscobel or Turks (probably because it was so clean). We still had fun and we met people who go there regularly. We also met people who were also very disappointed with the cleanliness of the resort. I will say one thing...if you love it at Negril you need to try Turks and Caicos or Boscobel. You will be very happy.

We just came back on 8/16/08 from a great stay at Beaches Negril! I can not say enough about the place, the staff was great! Kimono's was awsome! All the activities they have for families is wonderful! We have a 8, 13, and 14 year old and they were not ready to leave after 8 days they had made so many friends from all over! There were times it was like my husband & I were on vacation by ourselves because the kids enjoyed all the things to do. Snorkeling was fun, Chandel was great. I would highly recommend Janet for braids and Angela for a massage they both do a great job cheap! They are right next to the cosmic gift shop which is also a great little gift shop! Well worth the money , food & drinks were good also the Mill always had a great variety. All the activites were so much fun and they do a lot to get everyone involved and work really hard, Oryan, Josie, Garrett and Natasha were so much fun. The pools & waterslides were great., along with the X-box room. You always felt comfortable no matter where your children were on the resort the staff was great!! Lastly make sure you attend the chocolate buffet! I can not say enough about our trip it was such a relaxing awsome vacation we all did not want to leave.

P.S. Make sure to check out your pictures that they take, They give you a wrist band w/a number.

We had a fantastic time at Beaches Negril. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating. The resort definitely needs to be updated. The beach is beautiful. Food was ok. Nightly entertainment was pretty good.

“Awesome trip, don't be scared by the other reviews”

We just returned from Beaches Negril. My wife and I read tons of reviews before we left and quite frankly were a little nervous. I can tell you that our experience was absolutely top notch! We would return in a heart beat. Everything you read in there brochure is correct. Everything is included, except the extras that they tell you about (scuba lessons, Spa, Photo purchases) They mean it when they say no tipping! The only ones that expect a tip are the drivers and porter's at the airport, they don't work for beaches.
We traveled with Myself 33, My wife 32, Our sons 9 &12 and our infant daughter 21 months.
We were a bit skiddish about the daycare because our daughter doesn't use daycare so when we arrived a took a couple of days for us to go and check it out. We took her in and thought we would play with her and then leave her the next day if we felt comfortable. She didn't want to leave and we were very comfortable leaving her they were awesome plenty of help, top quality care and even security cameras everywhere you looked.
We left her there for a couple of hours each day there after and she loved it. And quite honestly it was good to get her out of the heat for a bit too.
Our boys roamed around and did there own thing from pingpong to water slides and pools to food and they had a blast.
Plenty to keep you busy and a huge awesome beach. If you are wondering which Beaches to go to this one has the biggest beach and plenty to do.
Of all the complaints we read before our trip, we believe now that those people that complained must be real snobs or have unrealistic expectations. No the resort is not brand new but it is well kept and the staff is incredible. When we arrived we were met by Courtney and he welcomed us brought us into the great room while he took care of all the running around for paperwork. He got us drinks (rum punch) and when he brought us to our room our daughter even held his hand.
Some tips, Immigration line is long and not air conditioned, the rooms at the far end of the resort by the shuffle board can get loud from the club next door, we slept fine though. Get a few drinks at once they aren't huge, Book your restaraunts early, use the spa (awesome). Use your daily agenda that they slip under your door in the morning. Yay mon, just relax. The staff does everything and anything for you.
I am a firefighter my wife is a nurse and this is the most expensive trip we have been on. It doesn't take a ton to please us but this was way beyond that. Well worth the $7500 we spent. Book through Beaches direct for the best prices, airfare too.
Sesame is great too!
