“Came back last night, wish I was still at the "Friendly" Resort...”

Hola Puerto Vallarta Club & Spa

I'm so glad my family didn't listen to the ridiculous reviews on this website because then we wouldn't have stayed 2 wonderful weeks at this amazing hotel.
Let's just say two weeks wasn't enough. The people who work at Hola do anything and everything to make your stay an enjoyable one [hence the "Friendly" pin on all the employee's uniforms].
From the minute we stepped foot in the place, we could tell that customer service was the number one priority there. We had lunch at the snack bar our first day, and didn't really enjoy the food [we came late, and didn't get to enjoy it at its "freshest"]. We told Jenny, the concierge, who immediately made sure we found something we liked and even offered us a free meal at the French restaurant next door. We didn't even use that voucher until the end of our stay because the food turned out to be great the rest of our stay [i think our first day we were just swayed by the reviews on this site and automatically expected everything to taste horrible, which it didn't].
The activities people are nice--we miss Julio! Livier and Cynthia are also super sweet and make sure beach volleyball is fun for those who are just playing for fun. Kayaking's great, and we took advantage of it every day. The gym's awesome, and the personal trainer there will make sure you work off those pounds gained from the all inclusive delicious meals and desserts : )
The waiters are patient and ALWAYS smiling--even remembered our names and greeted us whenever we saw them around the hotel.
Basically I don't have anything bad to say about the hotel. If I did, I would've told the owner who is always seen walking around the premises in his white clothing [he's the one in the video on the hotel website]. I made sure to let him know how much I was enjoying my stay in the hotel.

If you're not a boring person and you're looking to enjoy yourself and meet new people in a different culture and atmosphere, then come to Hola. You won't be disappointed. People who are complaining about the lack of variety in desserts obviously found nothing better to do with their time. I didn't even have time to try all the desserts and I was there for 2 weeks! Flan, all kinds of cheesecake, all kinds of donuts, creme caramel, ice cream, etc..what more do you want, people??

My family will definitely be coming back to Hola. See you soon!!

: )

“2 week adventure!”

I stayed at the Hola PVR for 2 weeks in January 2008, we knew it wasn't a 5-star going in but we were open minded.

Location - AMAZING! 10 minute bus ride to downtown, close to all stores and plazas!

Food - got a little repetative after about 10 days, we ate dinner in town a lot, mostly at La Dolce Vita which is a must when visiting PVR. Breakfast was fantastic, lunch was okay...don't waste your time on the gormet restaurant, we ended up eating at the buffet afterwards! The grilled cheese sandwhiches at midnight were fantastic.

Room - very large and very clean, except for the one cockroach which we saw one night late in the washroom...we covered the drain everynight after that and it was okay.

Pool - never swam in, the ocean is right there...why would we swim in the pool???

All in all this is not a top quality hotel, but we stayed for 2 weeks so it was right in the budget! i would recommend this to any young people looking for a great time in PVR.

“great service from staff”

Hola Puerto Vallarta Club & Spa

Jul 31, 2008

resort is on the older side, but the staff was extremely service oriented and helpful. however, they need to work on kitchen help's cleanliness. omelette maker dropped spatula on floor, picked it up, wiped it with a paper towel and continued flipping the eggs. most helpful were the reception staff, bellboys, bar tenders, and waiters/waitresses. Jenny, the concierge/customer service rep was most helpful and full of information.

“Great Time, Friendly People!”

Hola Puerto Vallarta Club & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Atlanta, GA
Jul 27, 2008

Where to begin... We had read the mixed reviews on this website and were a little concerned but after arriving, we could not have been happier at the Hola. (We've just decided some people wouldn't be happy no matter where they stay.)

It's an easy cab ride from the airport, about $8 ($80 pesos) and about 15 minutes, and you can easily take a cab anywhere in the city for under $10.

We checked in and were given a nice room on the 12th floor with an amazing view of the entire bay. The staff was great from start to finish, excellent service from check in to check out, especially Jenny. She speaks perfect English, is very friendly and always had an answer for any questions we had about Puerto Vallarta.

The food was delicious, omlettes to order and fresh fruit for breakfast, ceviche by the pool for a snack, a full buffet for lunch and we really enjoyed the gourmet a la carte restaraunt for dinner. Be sure to make a reservation, we didn't but the staff managed to get us in anyway, thankfully.

The hotel has plenty of activities, we got into a beach volleyball tournament, played blackjack in the evening (play money only) capped off with a big party at night with dancing and great music. Don't forget the fact that it's all inclusive so an unlimited supply of drinks are only a few steps away to the nearest bar.

All in all, we had a great time. It's not the newest hotel in PV but the staff was superb and we would happily recommend it to someone looking for a good all inclusive package and great time.

“Fantastic”

Hola Puerto Vallarta Club & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Winnipeg, Canada

This hotel is awesome! Clean, very friendly hotel personel, great view with one of the best beaches for miles. I researched this hotel before I went and the reviews were about 50-50 on trip Adviser at the time. I think the ones who did not enjoy thier stay are just too picky. I mean $800.00 all inclusive for a week was fantastic value for what we got. It does not have the best pool but i was always on the beach anyways. Other travellers at other hotels walking on the our beach commented time and time again how nice the beach was. I had so much fun at the hotel I missed seeing most of Puerto vallarta during my stay as it was so fun just staying at the hotel with all the people I met.

I am going back this Feb for two weeks and the only hotel I will stay at is the Hola.
