“Fabulous”

We spent four glorious nights here.

There were many delicious choices for breakfast; service outstanding. All meals eaten at the resort were absolutely delicious.

The rooms were spacious, extremely clean and contrary to other comments about the beds being hard; we did not find this a problem. Beds and linens were very, very comfortable. We've never had rooms cleaned to such perfection every day.

The staff is extremely helpful and always smiling. My husband enjoyed the cigar bar in the library; and I loved the covered comfy beds on the beach.

We have travelled extensively world wide, and found this resort to be certainly one of the best insofar as a beach destination.

“Sheer beauty”

Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso

We spent our one week honeymoon in the hotel in early April and it was one of the nicest experiences we have ever had.

The rooms:
Each room/suite is given a certain name and topic (ours was Durban) for its interior design. Our suite was directly at the beach with two lovely balconies. Especially the bathroom and the beautiful shower were impressive as they had arranged some plants behind it which kind of gave the feeling of having a shower in the wilderness. Rooms are big and light

Staff:
Very well trained and extremely attentative to any needs whether it is at the reception, at the pool or in one of the restaurant. There was always the feeling that somebody would be around if needed (a drink) without them being all over you.

Restaurants:
We found the Grill near the beach and the pool to be the absolute highlight, as the atmosphere is manificent, the waiters extremely friendly and personal and the food just incredibly delicious. We spent one evening in the adjacent restaurant and were not necessarily impressed the food was very good, but the room lacked a bit of atmosphere and waiters sometime needed to be reminded of orders.

The Spa:
Extremely nice with great warm saltwater (whirl)pool. Also the massage and sauna area were beautifully built and constantly cleaned.

The beach:
beautiful white sandy beach even though the water is a bit rocky at places. The beach invites for long walks which is only briefly interrupted by a nudist hotel a few 100 meters away.

Negatives:
It is difficult to find something negative about this hotel but if there is anything it is the breakfast. It is a la carte, which is alright. However, the waiters are just not up to scratch and it takes ages to get anything onto the table even though we were always there quite early and max. one other table was occupied. Once food arrived however it was excellent, but it just took this littl ebit too long even though one is on holidays and the scenery being beautiful.

We would definitively recommend this hotel as it is perfectly located from the airport, Cancun and the pyramides to allow for some trips, is beautifully designed and maintained and has the well trianed stuff to care for all your possible needs with a big variety of delicious foods.

“Slice of Heaven”

Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso

Normally we stay in Cancun proper on our way to Havana, Cuba, but decided to try something on the boutique side. This resort is absolute heaven. It is not for people who want to party or get rowdy. There is no kareoke or disco! The rooms are all named after countries or capitals and are all suites with either first floor plunge pools or upstairs balconies with large sun lounges. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a very eclectic Asian/Mexican mix. Upon arrival at the Airport (we flew in via a private plane and were greated at the FBO). Even though we were delayed by over an hour and unable to adivse Pariso, they stayed and picked us up as advertised in the Lincoln Navigator, with cold towels and water. The driver was very courteous friendly. The resort is not visible from the main highway, and you have to enter through a gate which winds down a rather rough road and scrub. One would be concerned about the actual destination. However, upon arrival to the main gate, we were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were beautiful and unlike most check ins, we were taken directly to our suite (Mumbai) and our check in was done in our room. I don't know if this is normal or due to the hour, but I loved it. No wristbands here! The do not disturb sign was a porcelain moon on a ribbon. The bed was large and plush, with our robes displayed on the bed and our welcome bottle of tequila complete with lime and salt. The bath was expansive, all beautiful granite and limestone with two sinks, a large shower and sunken bath with candles. There were two balconies, and each had a sliding glass door and a sliding shuttered panel. Really nice touch! One small balcony off the master bed and the other off the living area with two large sun beds and table and chairs. The view was somewhat blocked to the North, but still a stunning view none the less. The beach is easily accessible by a network of walkways, with lounge chairs and private beds scattered on the beach. No sign or sound of kids!

Dinner the first night was at the premier restaurant, La Canoa. The menu was great: we had Mussel soup decorated with caviar, Yellow Fin tuna carpacio, fresh grouper and filet mignon with mushrooms. Service was a bit slow, but compared to the rush in the US, it was welcome. The wine list was extensive with many selections.

Breakfast was supposed to be included, but somehow we ended up paying for it. The meals were cold, but good.

The second night we ate at Kaax which featured Mayan influenced flavors. Although the menus were good, there were not a lot of options for people who don't want the fancy food or spices.

The last night we ate at Chiringuito and it is an excellent option for outside dining with a large BBQ and stunning view of the ocean. Unfortunately again, it was so windy and chilly that it was hard to enjoy. Maybe it was poor timing on our part, but I really thought it would have been warmer. Hey, at least it wasn't raining.

Unfortunately the weather was not good, very windy and cold, so we really couldn't enjoy the pool or ocean. The beach was cleaned every day. The water contained a lot of sea grass which turns me off, but farther out it doesn't appear to be bad. We had planned on diving, but the weather didn't cooperate and our timing was bad. We paid for the adventure package and the second day we rented a car and drove to Chichen Izta. Nothing to see on the way, and once you get there is it a tourist nightmare. It's a two hour drive each way. Still the ruins are an amazing sight to see and be done in a couple of hours. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen/bug repellent and a hat as it is very hot and no water available once inside.

I had a massage the first - wonderful. The second day I had the marine exfoliation followed by another massage. All treatments were very professional and anything I asked they were happy to respond. The prices were very high compared to the states for similar treatments and tax and service charges were tacked on in addition to gratuity. Ouch!

The staff was off the chart pleasant and friendly and I have only one other resort that compares to this level of service and was 5 times more expensive. They truly wanted to help you and make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

The food and bar prices were very expensive for Mexico. A beer was $10 which I find inexcusable, but that's just me. The grounds were very well kept and the rooms beautiful and clean. Turn down service every night.

There is also a library with cigars, a bar and grand piano. There are also several laptops for those looking for some computer time. There are lots of places to sit scattered throughout with birds in and out of cages.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, adult resort for some peace and quiet. You really don't need to leave.

“Beautiful But Boring”

Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso

My husband and I stayed there Feb 7 - 11 for a relaxing getaway. The resort was beautiful. The beach, pool, and rooms were perfect. We stayed at the beach everyday and had it all to ourselves. There were some reports of seaweed at the beach which made me skeptical. It turns out the beach was kept spotless, but about 20ft into the water there was nothing but seaweed. We could only swim (or should I say dip) near the shore. It really is unswimmable.

The only other negative is that it gets boring pretty quickly. We were there 5 days and spoke to no other guests. Everyone just kept to themselves. There is nothing to do at night except drive to Cancun (we did every night) or Playa del carmen. There is no nightly entertainment at all. In fact, the resort felt empty as if we were the only ones there.

Although beautiful and relaxing, we would not go back.

“Hidden Gem!”

Paraiso de la Bonita Resort & Thalasso

Paraiso de la Bonita is one of the finest resorts I have ever stayed at. The pictures of the place really can’t capture the magical and euphoric feelings generated by staying in such a secluded piece of paradise. You really feel like you are almost staying at your own private resort because of the exceptional service by the staff. My boyfriend and I stayed for six nights and the weather was perfect the entire time with a nice breeze throughout the days and nights. Though what really sets this resort apart from the others is the service from the dedicated and amazing staff members.

The exceptional service begins upon exiting the airport, when you are greeted by a friendly driver from Paraiso and ushered to one of their Lincoln Navigators where you are given cold towels, chilled water, and then driven to the beautiful resort. As the gates open personally for your arrival, you realize that you are entering paradise. The grounds are immaculately groomed and filled with lush plants, flowers, stunning birds, and friendly iguanas. The rooms are intricately decorated in various styles; Mexican, Caribbean, Oriental, etc. My boyfriend and I stayed in the gorgeous Aman suite, which is located on the 3rd level and is down an isolated walkway that leads only to this suite and a breathtaking view of the beach.

The suite was decorated in a tasteful Oriental design and the bathroom was my absolute favorite part of the suite with a large sunken tub for two, glass enclosed shower and gorgeous tile work. The suites with the plunge pool are private in some areas but I enjoyed having more privacy on the higher floors and a great view as well. I did not find the beds to be hard and we slept very comfortably, almost too much so. However, they serve breakfast until noon so there really is no rush. I was never disturbed by the tractor and it actually was finished more by 11 am than four pm. Just take a walk down to some of the other resorts' beaches nearby and tell me if a guy with a rake will adequately take care of a beach area the size of Paraiso’s. I would say the resort occupies a beach area more than twice the size of some of the neighboring resorts and the tractor isn't that disrupting at all.

The spa is fabulous and immaculately maintained by the friendly staff and extremely well-trained therapists. I highly recommend the Marine Prelude treatment with exfoliation; what a dream. The gym is great with all new equipment, flat-screen TV, but it is hard to take your eyes off the fabulous beach view from the gym. There are also complimentary yoga and Pilates classes on lawn overlooking the beach with a well-trained instructor.

The pool and beach service is the best I’ve ever experienced. No request is too small for the staff and they are very happy to accommodate you with whatever you may need, whether it’s extra pillows for the beach beds, drinks, lunch, or a refreshing Evian mist. They are just amazing! I’ve stayed a many wonderful beachfront resorts in the Caribbean and the service you receive here is unparalleled, mainly because the people who work here are so pleasant. The entire pool and beach scene is very serene and is for those who can truly sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful setting with the one you love, not for those looking for a rowdy party scene. I really enjoyed swimming in the ocean however the beach was nearly vacant as most people chose to lounge by the pool. In my opinion they were missing out on one of the best feautures of the Caribbean, the water, but whatever your taste you will find lots of comfortable double loungers or beach beds to relax on.

We really enjoyed the complimentary a la carte breakfast that came with our Luxury 4th night free package and ordered tons of yummy pastries, egg dishes, pancakes, etc (the package included 2- 50 minute massages, a 3 course dinner for two at their gourmet restaurants, and many other extras). We either had breakfast in our terrace overlooking the white sand beach and blue ocean, or at the wonderful breakfast and lunch restaurant Kaax by the pool and beach. The food there was really our favorite and my only complaint was that it wasn’t open for dinner. While the food at La Canoa, the gourmet restaurant, was okay, we found it to be a tad bland and over priced. However, the service was impeccable and the setting is beautiful. I enjoyed the grilled BBQ chicken at the casual beachside restaurant El Chiringuito and again the service was flawless.

I absolutely recommend going to John Gray’s Kitchen in Puerto Morelos (about 10 minute cab ride). We ate there twice and enjoyed starters such as a crispy goat cheese pizza, crab cakes, mushroom soup with truffle oil and delicious entrees like duck breast with a honey and tequila glaze, lamb chops, and grilled shrimp over macaroni and cheese with truffle oil. Do not miss this place! It has cozy and intimate setting and is very reasonably priced. A tip on dining in Mexico; always ask for the check or la cuenta when you are ready for it as it is customary for people to linger over an hour in Spanish countries and it is considered rude for the waiter to bring it before you ask.

Okay, back to the secluded paradise of Paraiso de la Bonita… They have many sailing experiences and water toys for the guests to use. We did a private 90 minute snorkel excursion at the nearby reef and it was quite a treat. I would highly recommend seeing the sights of the beautiful Riviera Maya and the concierge is very knowledgeable about some of the best excursions and sights in the region, the hardest part is leaving the beautiful resort! We had the best time and I’m already bugging my boyfriend to plan another trip back, and he definitely won’t mind. Come and experince the beauty and five star service of Paraiso de la Bonita for yourself; you won't be disappointed.
