We stayed in Spain for 3 nights at this modern 5 star hotel. It is in the center of all of the activity and restaurants. Our room was modern and clean. One of our elderly companions left his passport in the last city we stayed in and the hotel helped us have it courriered to them, re-arranged flights and reassured us that they would help him get to the airport safely since we had to leave. The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Unfortunatly we only had one night there but really enjoyed our stay. The location is great, right on La Rambla so lots to do and see right around the hotel. The room was very nice with adjustable beds, a seperate sitting area with a TV as well and it was great to open the doors to the window and look down on the bustling life. There were a few little things that went wrong in the room, the mini bar does not keep anything cold, our pay TV did not work and the taps in the huge wonderful tub were very hard to work since they were to far away, nearly killed myself trying to turn them on but hey, no real complaints at all for us. The staff was very nice as well, better then I am used to in Spain. I will definatly stay there every time I am in Barcelona and since I love the city, that will be many times in the future.

What a wonderful hotel Montecarlo is. It has tons of old world charm, but is also very chic with all the modern amenities. Absolutely perfect location, right on La Rambla and two blocks from Catalyuna Square. Staff and service were excellent. Our room (deluxe double) was delightful, quiet, extremely large with all mod cons. We would not dream of staying at any other hotel when re-visiting Barcelona.

We stayed at this hotel based on the TripAdvisor reviews and certainly weren't disappointed. It is in a fab location, halfway down La Ramblas but is a calm oasis of marble in the middle of the bustle of LR and close to the Gothis Quarter. Lovely, minimalist rooms - and the beds are SO comfortable with very good quality linens and comfy matresses. Our room - 404, had beds which elevated the top and bottom of the beds as required, perfect for my aching feet after a day's walking. Barcelona is a gem of a place to visit - the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell are just stunning.

Restaurant suggestion - Alter Ego, just around the corner in Carrer Comtal, gorgeous food/reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere. Don't be put off by the workings on the building next door.
