“Very decent hotel”

Hotel El Prado Very comfortable modern hotel in great location in center of Madrid. Everything looked like photos on web and it had everything you could need – TV with CNN, AC, lift, minibar, spotlessly clean. Free internet on computer in lobby. Staff spoke English. Breakfast was extra but you could just have coffee and a pastry for €3.50 or more extensive choices for more money. Two minute walk from Plaza Santa Ana, 5-10 from Plaza Mayor. Five to ten minutes in other direction is the Prado. Atocha train station about 15 minute walk, Several metro stops nearby. My only complaint was that my single room didn’t have a real window – the window opened onto a utility hallway, so no daylight. But I think there was only one room like this per floor and other than that it was perfectly fine and it certainly was quiet. The location felt very safe even at night. €67/night plus tax and breakfast

“Great hotel location”

Hotel El Prado

Was visiting Madrid for conference which was in conference centre near the airport. This hotel is ideally located for the main sites of Old Madrid. It is a 5 minute walk to the Thyssen, and less than 10 minutes to the Prado. Plaza Santa Ana is on the doorstep and Plaza Mayor is not that much further. So if going out in central Madrid, this is an excellent location. However, the nearest metro is about 15 minutes away which can be frustrating for more distant sights...

The hotel itself is clean and well appointed for this price category. Free wi-fi in the rooms and the free internet in the lobby makes a change from hotels in higher price brackets where this is all an additional extra. I had a single room, which was small but had all the amenities that are needed. A safe, mini-bar, TV, desk and en-suite shower room. The wine theme was strange and I didn't see the point of it, but there was a bottle of wine in the room, which I was unsure whether was complimentary or chargeable! Staff were efficient and helpful although not overly friendly.

I would happily stay here again on business and a cheap vacation.

“Great stay in Madrid”

Hotel El Prado

Me and my wife stayed here for 4 nights early october. We found the location to be spectacular, right in the center close to everything. We lucked out by getting the room on the 5th floor. The streets are filled easily until 1 to 2am in the morning, so having a room on the 5th floor and windows closed worked at keeping the noise out fairly well. The room (room 506) was very clean and descent size, with nice size closet and safe. The bathroom was also spacious, could use some fixing, but still in a very good shape and clean. The hotel had free internet in the lobby and receptionist were very friendly at assisting us with booking Toledo trip. Breakfast is very typical for spain, cold cuts, pastries, coffee and juices. Overall a great stay for the price, awsome location! (25 euros to and from airport by taxi).

“Super central location”

Simple, very clean, rooms reasonable size and well equipped for a city centre hotel at this price. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this for its friendly, helpful staff and very convenient location for old Madrid, all the Art galleries and the pretty, lively Plaza de Santa Ana with its bars and cafes. A room on the upper floors has more light and less noise but, hey we are in the centre of one of Europe's most dedicated all-night cities, so shut the window or take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

“Great hotel and a great location”

We spent three days at this hotel. We were very pleased with it in terms of cleanliness, friendliness and location. I don't think we could have found a more perfect location for a first-time visit to Madrid, and with such great value. We used booking.com to book this hotel, and instead of the regular 12 euros for breakfast, we got breakfast for 5 euros. What a deal! The breakfast was one of the best we had in Madrid - meats, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts, cereal, juices, tortillas, coffee, tea...excellent value! The hotel itself is small, and the rooms are small but clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We were a bit disappointed that there was no kettle and iron, but quickly discovered that this is not common to find anywhere in Spain. The free internet access was a bonus, and there was always at least one staff member who spoke English. If you are a light sleeper, then definitely ask for an inside room. Ours looked out at the fire escape...not terribly inspiring, but our friends on the street side spent many nights awake, listening the rowdy crowds coming from bar-hopping. All in all, this hotel was great value and had great service.
