We stayed in the Residenza degli Angeli between Christmas and New Years. We were instructed to ring Mario on arrival into Venice. We arrived later than expected, he gave us very clear instructions as to which waterbus to get and we were met at the stop by his wife Esmerelda.

The Residenza is a very short walk from this stop. Esmerelda was extremely helpful and gave us clear instructions as we walked so that we would be well orientated for our short stay.

Despite the late hour, Esmerelda gave us a map of the immediate area and sat us down to explain where to find the main attractions, everywhere is within walking distance. She also highlighted some good authentic restaurants nearby where we would not be ripped off. We took her advice and it was worth it.

The Residenza is very homely. Our room was lovely and clean, decorated with nice Venetian style furniture. It was the smallest room in the Residenza but was certainly not cramped. There was a good air conditioning/ heating unit. The breakfast was adecute.

All in all, excellent value for an expensive city. Would stay there again.

An incredible value. The room was small but enjoyable and completely adequate since you should spend most of your time "exploring" Venice. We decide to spend some time in found the bed very comfortable and awoke refreshed each morning.

The hospitality shown by the owners was beyond expectations. The breakfast conversation was enjoyable, the guidance helpful (they understood we were on a budget and were concerned we receive good value when eating, etc.) and not at all overbearing. What a joy!

Searched online for weeks with no luck and then this place seemed to magically drop out of the sky... The "Residence of the Angels" was beyond our expectations and exactly what we wanted -- beautiful room, excellent location (near the Ponte Rialto) in an adorable neighborhood, with plenty of character and best of all an endearing and gracious hostess. From the moment Esmerelda met us at the vaparetto stop she was the perfect balance of warm, helpful and efficient, giving us great information and insider tips that really helped maximize our one night stay in Venice. She was also more than happy to let us leave our bags there the next day. Wish we could have stayed longer, and will definitely consider this our future home in heavenly Venice.

What a great little place. The host and hostess are incredible - our flight to Venice was over 3 hours late, yet they still met us at the water taxi dock after midnight. The room we had was very cozy, and it was obviously renovated recently. Our first morning Esmeralda gave us some great dining recommendations... and they were all excellent... very authentic Italian. The only downside to this place is its difficulty to locate... it's off of the beaten track. This was our first time to Venice, so it's very easy to get lost... so just watch the amount of wine you consume before making the walk home! Overall, we loved it, and would HIGHLY recommend it!
