“Great value”

Hotel Caravaggio

We got a wonderful price for three nights at the Hotel Caravaggio (less than whatwe paid for 1 or 2 nights in other cities). Our room was in the front of the hotel, but the noise at night was minimal. By morning we did hear the traffic, but we wanted to get up anyway--no use sleeping in while in Florence! Room was a decent size and clean. The breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from. Location was fine. Short walk to all attractions. We had a car we had to park in the garage and it cost us 25 Euros a night, but we were glad we had the car to visit some of the hill towns.

“A Room With A View”

Hotel Caravaggio

5 of 5 stars

Booked this hotel through their web site after many recommendations online and it did not disappoint. The street in front is busy and noisy so getting a back room is essential and worth every penny. We had an incredible view from our room of the Duomo and a lovely courtyard. The room was simply appointed, extremely clean, with a good bathroom (with towel warmer), an excellent breakfast buffet in the morning, and an overall first rate, helpful and friendly staff.

This hotel is a 3 block walk from the train station so it’s convenient (though the street has narrow sidewalks and is swamped at rush hour), but it’s close to everything (Michelangelo’s “David” being only a few blocks away). There are a ton of places to eat nearby (from cheap to posh), pharmacies, a supermarket, etc. For the money, this 3 star gem was just wonderful and is highly recommended.

“Convenient”

Hotel Caravaggio

This hotel was just what we were looking for, the staff were very friendly and they all spoke in English. Th breakfast was good, the maids did their job well, and it was very close (10mins walk away) from the train station (SMN) and 5 mins away from the Duomo. I went there with my boyfriend and although the atmosphere isn't romantic it was still very nice. it was well priced too. I was there over New Years Eve and the price literally doubled on the 31st and 1st for accomodation but that's to be expected everywhere. i would definitely recommend this hotel, and although the road it's in isn't exactly pretty there's a supermarket down the road and a square with trees and a merry - go - round right opposite, so when you're looking for it remember it's opposite Piazza Independenza.

“Hail to the Jacuzzi!!!”

Hotel Caravaggio

If you read JM Scotland's review, I met him while I was there. Leonardo and company do a great job of providing information.

The room was fine, and I would agree that a room in the back was probably a better choice regarding noise. Also, we had a great view of the Duomo, as it is lit up at nite. If booking at this hotel, and you are going to be walking a lot during the day, I highly recommend choosing a room that has a jacuzzi tub. I used it every nite, and it made all the difference getting me ready for the next walking day!

There are a couple of restaurants right on via Nazionale (same side of the street) that we sampled, along with a Chinese Restaurant. Nothing like Chinese who speak fluent Italian. Prices were all reasonable.

The hotel is also close to the San Lorenzo market where you can buy all sorts of "stuff." Be prepared to bargain. I'm glad I had my wife with me, as i let her take the lead. By the time she was finished with the vendors, they gave her what she wanted just to get rid of her!

Something interesting to do...i went to the Duomo for an 8:30 AM mass.It was about 25 minutes in length. I am NOT Catholic, but wanted the experience. The sound of 13 priests speaking/chanting in Italian resonated throughout the entire Cathedral. That was a memory in itself!
