“Perfect, villa-style sanctuary in Florence”

Residence Michelangiolo

5 of 5 stars
New York City gal
Aug 5, 2008

We stayed at the Residence Michelangiolo for 4 days at the end of July, 2008. Everything about our stay was so relaxing and comfortable, even before we got there. We emailed the hotel ahead of time and Cherubino made reservations for us at Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia (We definitely recommend making the reservations and paying the little extra, otherwise the lines are outrageous, especially Uffizi).
The hospitality was wonderful, our room was perfect (and large, with wonderful high ceilings). Our windows opened to the courtyard in back and it really felt like we were in a villa on the countryside, but with the convenience of a walk to Florence's center. And the stocking of our fridge with free water and cold juice was a great touch!
NOTES:
1. If you're going to Florence in the summer heat, bring bug spray.
2. There is a Magi Mart (little grocery) about 5 minutes walk from the Residence - we stopped here and got some sodas and fruit and yogurt for breakfast to keep in our fridge. Very inexpensive!
3. It's a far walk, but do not miss dinner at Il Latini - it's worth the hype.
** We would go back to Residence Michelangiolo in a heartbeat. We loved the walk, and the distance from town, and the wonderful service.

“5 Star Service- loved location and hotel!!!”

Our stay at Residence Michelangiolo was absolutely perfect!! Great value for the price and location! We walked everywhere! Angela was an amazing host- always willing to lend a helping hand-she helped us with everything- from booking museums, to finding locations, good restaurants- even called our wine tour operator for instructions at 11pm at night- she's amazing!! Follow their directions from the train station- we tried taking a bus from the train station and that didn't work out too well- since we got off at the top of the hill- and the hotel is at the bottom. This was our favorite hotel on our honeymoon- beautiful rooms and BIG bathrooms too!!! Enjoy your stay! All the best, Erin & Craig (Calgary, Canada)

“An unforgettable stay”

Residence Michelangiolo

5 of 5 stars
Zurich
Jul 27, 2008

We stayed 3 nights in the Suite in Residence Michelangiolo on our honeymoon.

We were 100% satisfied and would go back anytime.

The Residence is 10 min walk from the center and is therefore perfectly located to visit the city without a car and at the same time it provides for quietness after a day of sightseeing with a nice garden and residential neighbourhood !

The Residence is a beautiful home from the 1930s totally renovated and offers a comfortable stay in spotless rooms decorated with style. The owner Angela is extremely nice and helpful and this also contributed to make our stay so special.

We hope to come back soon!

Oliver and Magalie from Zurich

“Lovely Accommodation”

Very pleased with our choice of the picturesque Residence Michelangiolo for our stay in Florence. After a busy days site seeing, in apparently unseasonal heat (38-40 celcius) we found the Residence a welcome respite from the high temperature, the crowds and the hustle and bustle of the city.
Loved our room, it was spacious, elegantly furnished, cool and spotlessly clean and best of all it had coffee and tea making facilities - a rarity in Italy. Angela and Cherubino are delightful hosts and assisted us with bookings and other arrangements for visits to attractions before and during our stay.
As mentioned by others the Residence is located in a quiet area of Florence and sits to the edge of all the attractions of the city. We enjoyed the walk into the city but used the little local bus - about a two minute walk from the Residence, when we tired of walking - which wasn't often despite the heat.
We really liked the restaurants around the Residence as well. The food was good and the prices for the most reasonable. The Trattoria down the road was a particular stand out - take your Italian phrase book to unravel the menu though!
The Residence Michelangiolo will definately be our choice should we be lucky enough to return to Florence.

This is the best way to see Florence, in my opinion. Lodged on the tree-lined Viale Michelangielo, it is a welcome rest from the hub-bub and crowds of the city, but it's only a 20-minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, or 20 minutes in the other direction to the church of San Miniato, with a stellar view of the entire city! The rooms are huge, especially by European standards, and include a kitchenette inside a large armoire. Angela and Cherubino are friendly, and will help you with your Italian if you like. We have already decided to stay here on our next trip to Florence.
