“Full of character”

Residence Michelangiolo

Aug 19, 2008

Residence Michelangiolo is a quiet vila just out of town. A 20 minute walk into Florence, it is a good choice if you are travelling by car, as there is free secure parking on site.

Angela and Cherubino are very helpful and gave us good restaurant recommendations along with directions for our onward journey.

Lovely large room with high ceilings. Nice bathroom, although be warned, we did not have a shower curtain or screen over the bath and we ended up mopping up the floor after each shower.

Note that there are no restaurant facilities available, however there is a small kitchenette in your room that has breakfast supplies, something I'd overlooked until we arrived, but it was good fun making real coffee in the coffee pot provided.

You are a short walk from the Piazza Michelangiolo, which you must go to, as it has spectacular views over Florence. We went to roticierre down the road from the piazza, heading out of Florence and bought chicken, salads and a bottle of wine and went and watched the sunset in the piazza, it was a real highlight!

“Yes, all the glowing reviews here are true!!”

Residence Michelangiolo

Aug 14, 2008

Yes, it's all true!

Location-the place is close enough to the city to walk to, but far enough to be quiet(sort of...it's Italy, remember?).

The rooms are huge and clean.

The staff, CH and A, were the best most friendly, courteous hosts we have ever met;
Among many things, CH recommended;
-a one day drive itinerary thru Siena and San Gimigniano (great!)
-a restaurant in Via San Nicolo (also great)
-Even found out for us a (trucker's) restaurant in Regello(towards Arezzo) where they serve a HUGE plate of pasta...(true too)
-Paoli's restaurant in Firenze -for dinner (beautiful)
among many other things (he even waited for us to arrive at 20:30-we got lost...)

We stayed in room 103 (Margherita) which faces the backyard and we loved it.

And yes, bring bug spray, even though they have a "plug in the wall" kind of mosquito repellent, these bugs are very aggressive!

“The best in Florence”

We stayed here at the beginning of July and were absolutely thrilled with the beautiful rooms, spacious bathroom and kitchenette.

The residence is ideally situated, far enough away from the centre of Florence to feel peaceful, close enough to see everything you need to.

The transport links from the residence are brilliant, with the local bus stop being only 3 minutes walk away. The irish bar on the corner was our local for the time we stayed and felt like home from home.

Overall, I dont think there was anywhere better to stay, and if I return to Florence, i wont hesitate to stay there again

“Perfect, villa-style sanctuary in Florence”

Residence Michelangiolo

New York City gal
Aug 5, 2008

We stayed at the Residence Michelangiolo for 4 days at the end of July, 2008. Everything about our stay was so relaxing and comfortable, even before we got there. We emailed the hotel ahead of time and Cherubino made reservations for us at Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia (We definitely recommend making the reservations and paying the little extra, otherwise the lines are outrageous, especially Uffizi).
The hospitality was wonderful, our room was perfect (and large, with wonderful high ceilings). Our windows opened to the courtyard in back and it really felt like we were in a villa on the countryside, but with the convenience of a walk to Florence's center. And the stocking of our fridge with free water and cold juice was a great touch!
NOTES:
1. If you're going to Florence in the summer heat, bring bug spray.
2. There is a Magi Mart (little grocery) about 5 minutes walk from the Residence - we stopped here and got some sodas and fruit and yogurt for breakfast to keep in our fridge. Very inexpensive!
3. It's a far walk, but do not miss dinner at Il Latini - it's worth the hype.
** We would go back to Residence Michelangiolo in a heartbeat. We loved the walk, and the distance from town, and the wonderful service.

“5 Star Service- loved location and hotel!!!”

Our stay at Residence Michelangiolo was absolutely perfect!! Great value for the price and location! We walked everywhere! Angela was an amazing host- always willing to lend a helping hand-she helped us with everything- from booking museums, to finding locations, good restaurants- even called our wine tour operator for instructions at 11pm at night- she's amazing!! Follow their directions from the train station- we tried taking a bus from the train station and that didn't work out too well- since we got off at the top of the hill- and the hotel is at the bottom. This was our favorite hotel on our honeymoon- beautiful rooms and BIG bathrooms too!!! Enjoy your stay! All the best, Erin & Craig (Calgary, Canada)
