I stayed in Kulm Hotel last August with my husband and 11 years old son.We booked a 3-days package which included half-board and 2 hydro jet massages.
We stayed in a double room lake side south that we found very comfortable, well maintened and very clean.
The food was delicious. We had dinner in the Pizzeria with same half-board menu that they served in the main dinning room.
The wellness area was fantastic with a large indoor pool and a jacuzzi with great views to the mountains and the lake.
All the hotel public areas were well decorated with comfortables sofas to relax and beautiful lake views.
The staff was very kind and helpful and made we feel at home(although it is a big hotel). We had everyday fresh fruits and water in our room!
Good location, close to the shops and the lake.
We have been in many five star hotels in Europe and Kulm is one of the best.
Just perfect...

I recently stayed in this hotel for a family holiday. Unfortunately it would appear that the management of the hotel are relying more upon the past reputation of the hotel rather than trying to enhance a future one. Corporate hospitality seems to be the order of the day at the expense of the paying guests who are shuffled around to make space for whatever event happens to be on that particular day. The food is very disappointing for a superior 5 star hotel although the Pizzeria restaurant is very nice. Having said that, the hotel is exceedingly clean, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable and there are lots of public areas. My son particularly enjoyed the childrens playroom. On the whole, this is a hotel for those who like good appearances but are not too fussy regarding good service and food. Perhaps it was unfortunate that we visited late in the season but if the hotel is unable to maintain their standards in September, it may be better if they did not open at all.

“"The Shining' in Switzerland”

Kulm Hotel

I stayed at the Kulm as part of my trip in Switserland in June 2006, when I also stayed at the Riffelalp in Zermatt (see review there).

St. Moritz is a mountain resort with an upmarket reputation. It has lots of luxury shops (jewelry, fashion,…) and a number of ‘Grand Hotels’ that managed to maintain the feel of the old days. I stayed at the Kulm hotel for 5 nights, ‘Heavenly Kulm’ package.

1. the hotel is well located near the town center (i.e. near the shops) and has excellent views of the lake. The hotel is very much ‘old style’ with an impressive entrance hall and dining hall,… I was there the first week after they re-opened from the spring break and the hotel was still pretty empty. Walking through the hallways back to my room at night, I sometimes expected Jack Nicholson from “The Shining” to jump up on me from behind a corner with an axe. But that’s just me…
2. rooms are OK (I stayed in a south facing room lake view).
3. food was good and sometimes excellent. You don’t see it very often that they bring your dinner to your table on several silver plates before they serve it to you. Not really necessary in my opinion, but I guess it keeps the dishwashers busy… Breakfast buffet was the same every morning. Choice was sufficient, but not immense.
4. I stayed at the Kulm in the “Heavenly” package, which included a helicopter flight, 2 guided walks and 2 wellness treatments. In hindsight, the activities were not very well organized. First of all, I had to ask myself about the timing of the different activities. Also, they should know the helicopter flight should be planned at the earliest opportunity because of the weather conditions. The flight was scheduled the 3rd of my stay but because of the weather it had to be canceled. The next day likewise. Which means I never got to do the helicopter flight, weather was nice on Day 1 and, though… Other activities were OK (thanks to guide Jan for the walks).
5. nice wellness center, but I’m not a fan. Large indoor pool with great views.

“Winter Wonderland”

Kulm Hotel

Our first visit to St. Moritz in January 2004. The Kulm offers the best of Swiss hospitality and this is supposed to be the best in the world. A large rather ornate hotel but with a comfortable ambience and elegant clientele. We had half-board and took dinner in the grand dining room each evening. Dress was formal but men did not wear dinner jacket although jacket and tie is mandatory. Everybody was extremely smart and this added to the sense of occasion. The food was excellent and although it is a set menu you can always order whatever you want in reason without any additional cost. You must try the meusli at breakfast! We did not actually ski as this was this was our first visit to a winter resort but the walks around the lake and through the little villages are magical. You need good hiking boots and we purchased timberland style boots which were brilliant. It is very hilly and you will get a good workout! The indoor swimming pool is terrific with a wonderful view of the snow-capped mountains. Nice people, beautifully kitted out, super shops and envigorating mountain air - a super winter break!

Hi to all people, who love the mountains, who love the wonderful nature, who love very delicious food, who love to be in a real first class hotel: This is the right place to go.

I come here for more than twenty years ad I can say: St. Moritz is one of most beautiful places I saw and the Kulm Hotel is my favorit hotel. Why?

People, who work there, are so friendly and competent, guests are so nice and distinguished, the rooms are very comfortable, the service is excellent, the food is delicious, they have a wonderful big wellness area, and, and, and...And although it is a big hotel one feels very familiar!

So I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the poeple of the hotel and say: Thank you for so many lovely holidays!
