Just returned from a long weekend in the Dam. My hubby has stayed at the Park previously and was very impressed with the refurb. We had room 416 on the fourth floor (obviously) which was a very modern double room with LCD tv, ultra modern black tiled bathroom with chrome fittings, very comfortable double bed, air-con (thank goodness, it was very hot that weekend), mini bar, hairdryer etc etc.

Check-in was quick and easy, and a porter took our luggage to the room. I had requested a quiet room and this is exactly what we got - the view was over the roof tops rather than the canal/road which meant that there was no traffic noise at all.

We stayed on room only basis. As the hotel is finishing off the renovations there was a little bit of work going on but nothing to disrupt our stay apart from the lift breaking down on the morning we were leaving, so had to carry out luggage down the stairs. Could not be helped.

The location of the hotel is great - just over the road Vondel Park, and some good bars and restaurants. Leidsplein is a 5 mins walk away and there are many shops, restaurants and bars there to try.

We had a special price for this hotel which was why we chose it, but will definitely stay there again.

Stayed for 2 nights with friends on a weekend trip to Amsterdam. The location is great - right by a canal where you can pick up boat tours, Van Gogh Museum, the Vondelpark, and about 5 minutes walk from the bars / restaurants around Leidseplein (much nicer than Dam Square / Central Station area). The Red Light District / Dam Square are about a 20 minute walk or a short tram journey, but to be honest it is great not to be right amongst the hordes of tourists (especially the stag/hen parties). There are lots of nice streets to explore on foot around the hotel with bars/cafes/restaurants where you can experience a slice of real Amsterdam life. The reception area and rooms have been recently refurbished and are modern and stylish. The breakfast room has not yet been done, and is a bit shabby compared the the other parts of the hotel, but I assume it is next on the list for the refurb! All in all a great base to explore Amsterdam from.

We only booked this hotel because it said on the website that it had been re-modernised, we stayed here 2 years ago and the room was terrible so this time we were hoping for better.
We booked a superior room which was advertised as all brand new with plasma tv open plan bathroom new beds etc but when we checked in the receptionist said she had upgraded us to an executive room which was good until we got to the room to find it was an old style room that had not been modernised, i rang recpetion to ask for our original room and was told that they had already filled it, what between us checking in and going up 3 floors to the room they had let it out i dont think so.
The hotel was still undergoing major works when we stayed we had not been informed of this and to get to our room we had to walk up a dust filled corridor with workmen everywhere.
The room was dirty, the maid service was terrible one day we didnt leave the room till 11am an eventhough the maids were still doing our floor they did not attempt to clean our room, on the days they did clean all they did was make the bed and supply new towels, they never topped the coffee/tea up we had to ring reception for some more and it never turned up along with the non slip bath mat we rung them for twice which never turned up.
They have no ice machines and charged 3 euros 50 for ice to be brought to the room i wouldnt of bothered if they had told me the charge before i rang up to find out where the ice machine was.
And to top it all off upon checking out even though we had paid in full on arrival for the room they decided to put the price of the room up and wanted an extra 100 euros a night plus charges for pay tv which we had not had, it took nearly an hour to check out and get sorted i had paperwork to prove all the costs but they would not accept it at first.
The location of the hotel is good but thats about it the service and staff attitude is extremely poor abd the quality of the hotel itself should be downgraded to 3 star.
Would we stay here again.....NO DEFINATELY NOT.

It was 18 years since our last stay at The Park and we were definitely not disappointed with our recent vist. The hotel has just been renovated to the highest standard. The rooms are spacious and the bed has to be the most comfortable we have ever slept in abroad. The standard of cleanliness was excellent too.The fixtures and fittings are very good. From the moment we arrived the staff were so very helpful. There was a problem with the electricity in our room but within 10 minutes of reporting it the electrician had rectified the problem. Added to all this the location is brilliant. We look forward to a return visit.
