We have just spent a weekend at this hotel and we were on the 3rd floor. We thought the hotel overall was very good but a big criticism were the lifts which we disliked immensely. Having to change lifts just to reach the 3rd floor /go downstairs several times a day was a real hassle - we weren't too bothered about the refurbishment though - I know it had been a lot worse prior to our visit. Our room was really lovely and even though it had quite a bit of street noise going on outside well into each night we didn't find it too much of an inconvenience - you are in the City after all!
We didn't like the shower and toilet cubicles. You could regularly end up with your feet and clothing drenched each time the loo was used which was a real nuisance.
Overall, a well positioned hotel with nice canal views but it was the Staff and the food which made it extra special. Would stay there again without hesitation and would recommend.
