Firstly apologies for the late review we actually stayed at this fabulous property back in Jume 2008, I did think I submitted the review on our return but alas I cant find it so gremlins must have been at work. Anywaay here goes.
We chose this hotel and madeour decision to try Mykonos this year on the great reviews and gorgeous candid photos posted on this site.
The hotel Tagoo and the wonderfull staff that run it lived up to and surpassed all our expectations.
It was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed in Greece.
We had a lovely room with views that quite literally took your breath away. The room had a fridge and a good bathroom ,large terrace complete with a little well and was spotless and comfortable with a traditional greek feel, we settled in right away and started to relax immediately.
Anna the owner provides a very informative welcome meeting with recomendations on beaches and restaurants , trips etc.
Breakfast is really good with lots of fresh choice that never runs out, even when I got up very late one morning !
We loved visting the bar in the evening and watching the sunset commenting on the nightly cruise liner moored in the bay below the hotel.
There have been lots of reviews so I wont go on about things already said , so instead I will attempt to put into words what made our stay at the Tagoo different and very special for us .
The hotel Tagoo managed to achieve a very difficult task, which is to provide excellent top notch accomodation that provides every comfort , but with personal service and genuine greek friendliness and hospitality.
As seaoned Greekophiles, what we have found over the 30 years of visiting this enchanting country and its lovely honest people, is that often to get good standards of accomodation one often sacrifices the personal touch that only comes from meeting the local people. However at the Tagoo you get the full package, because Anna and her brother Jimmy who runs the excellent bar as well as any in the world, spent alot of time in Canada so they are in tune with what guests from all over the world require and indeed demand these days. However this is a traditional Greek family run business , Anna came to stay as a visitor in the eighties and married the very handsome Yianni a local man , and they have taken care not to lose the magic that is Greece with its generous and honest hospitality towards visitors.
Anna and Yiani and thier small team achieve what I thought was imposssible ,a magical and rare blend of genuine personal service with very high standards of cleanliness , maintenance and comfort . The result is a place that is not only beautifull on the outside but where you will feel as welcome as if you were staying with old friends that just happen to run a gorgeous hotel in Greece..
When both myself and my husband had health problems during our stay 'Dr Anna' helped so much taking my husband to her own doctor for treatment, and she asked about him every day. When I had heat stroke in town one evening Yianni came and collected me and I felt so much better knowing that they were there to help, as they are truly genuine and really care about all thier guests.
We arrived expecting to be just guests , but we left feeling like friends I cant praise the people at Tagoo enough.
If you can manage to get in , just go, you will not be dissapointed.
