“Best Hotel in Mykonos”

Hotel Tagoo

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Tagoo for 4 days in May 2008. I booked direct with Anna after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and I was not disappointed.

Yanni was waiting for us when we arrived by boat and he was there to take us to the ferry when we left.

Anna explained before we booked that our room would be small (we found it to be quite adequate). Our room had a spectacular view, balcony, table and chairs so we could sit outside in the evening and have a glass of wine and watch the ships anchor. Alternatively, we could go up stairs to the swimming pool and have a glass of wine at the bar with Anna’s brother Jimmy and take in an even more spectacular view.

Anna was always available to answer questions and the fact that she and Jimmy speak fluent English and Greek is so helpful. The walk into town is about 10 minutes and there is a supermarket and internet just as you leave the town and walk back up the road to the hotel.

The hotel was immaculate and their attention to detail and maintenance is commendable. Thank you Anna, Yanni, Jimmy and staff for your hospitality and friendliness. In the 6 weeks we spent in Europe our stay at Hotel Tagoo was the most memorial. We have never felt more welcome at a hotel, Anna treats you more like extended family than guests.

“Hotel Tagoo excellent again!”

Hotel Tagoo

Sep 3, 2008

This was my second year in a row staying at Hotel Taggo. My work sent me to Mykonos for 3 days and I extended my trip for pleasure. The first 3 nights my company had us in a "5 star" hotel. The rooms were pleasant but the service terrible. I stayed my final 3 nights with Anna and Hotel Tagoo. It was like coming home. Anna had a welcome party our first night where she explained the areas of the island, places recommended by herself and recent guests, local customs such as fair tipping ect. All of the restaurants Anna recommended were excellent. She also booked us a spa treatment and they gave us a 10% discount because we were guests of Anna. All the staff at the hotel from Anna to Jimmy remembered me and made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I would definitely come back again.

Firstly apologies for the late review we actually stayed at this fabulous property back in Jume 2008, I did think I submitted the review on our return but alas I cant find it so gremlins must have been at work. Anywaay here goes.
We chose this hotel and madeour decision to try Mykonos this year on the great reviews and gorgeous candid photos posted on this site.
The hotel Tagoo and the wonderfull staff that run it lived up to and surpassed all our expectations.
It was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed in Greece.
We had a lovely room with views that quite literally took your breath away. The room had a fridge and a good bathroom ,large terrace complete with a little well and was spotless and comfortable with a traditional greek feel, we settled in right away and started to relax immediately.
Anna the owner provides a very informative welcome meeting with recomendations on beaches and restaurants , trips etc.
Breakfast is really good with lots of fresh choice that never runs out, even when I got up very late one morning !
We loved visting the bar in the evening and watching the sunset commenting on the nightly cruise liner moored in the bay below the hotel.
There have been lots of reviews so I wont go on about things already said , so instead I will attempt to put into words what made our stay at the Tagoo different and very special for us .
The hotel Tagoo managed to achieve a very difficult task, which is to provide excellent top notch accomodation that provides every comfort , but with personal service and genuine greek friendliness and hospitality.
As seaoned Greekophiles, what we have found over the 30 years of visiting this enchanting country and its lovely honest people, is that often to get good standards of accomodation one often sacrifices the personal touch that only comes from meeting the local people. However at the Tagoo you get the full package, because Anna and her brother Jimmy who runs the excellent bar as well as any in the world, spent alot of time in Canada so they are in tune with what guests from all over the world require and indeed demand these days. However this is a traditional Greek family run business , Anna came to stay as a visitor in the eighties and married the very handsome Yianni a local man , and they have taken care not to lose the magic that is Greece with its generous and honest hospitality towards visitors.
Anna and Yiani and thier small team achieve what I thought was imposssible ,a magical and rare blend of genuine personal service with very high standards of cleanliness , maintenance and comfort . The result is a place that is not only beautifull on the outside but where you will feel as welcome as if you were staying with old friends that just happen to run a gorgeous hotel in Greece..
When both myself and my husband had health problems during our stay 'Dr Anna' helped so much taking my husband to her own doctor for treatment, and she asked about him every day. When I had heat stroke in town one evening Yianni came and collected me and I felt so much better knowing that they were there to help, as they are truly genuine and really care about all thier guests.
We arrived expecting to be just guests , but we left feeling like friends I cant praise the people at Tagoo enough.
If you can manage to get in , just go, you will not be dissapointed.

I recently came back from Hotel Tagoo and what can I say...I will never forget my stay there. From the moment I arrived, the owners Anna and her husband Yanni, the rest of their family and staff all made me feel right at home (they even picked me up from the ferry when I arrived and dropped me off when I was leaving which was much appreciated).

Besides speaking Greek, Anna is fluent in English and I also believe she speaks a few other languages which make it very easy to communicate. She goes out of her way to make your stay at the hotel and on the island enjoyable. She takes time out of her busy schedule to sit down with you and explain where the best restaurants in town are, the best beaches to go to and how to get to them, or any other interesting place you may want to visit. I’ve traveled to various countries and stayed in many hotels over the years, but I have to say that hands down, Anna is the best. From my experience, it’s clear that she truly cares for her guests and that is rare in this day and age.

The hotel itself is quite beautiful. The room was simple but everything was clean and well maintained (which goes for the rest of the hotel as well). It had all the necessities anyone needs such as a comfortable bed, AC, shower/tub, TV, fridge and an in-room safe.

The pool area was spectacular especially with the view of the sea...simply Amazing. Make sure you stick around for the sunsets as they truly are breathtaking. After a long day exploring the town or the various beaches or even if you just want to spend a quiet day away from the crowds, it’s a great place to relax (or in my case, recover from the previous night on the town), that is, until its time to go out and enjoy the endless nightlife once again!

Jimmy the barman, who's also Anna's brother and is also fluent in English, knows his stuff. From creating the perfect mood by playing just the right mix of music, to whipping up that special drink you may want, he has it down to a tee. He's very funny so he'll definitely keep you entertained. The drinks are also probably the cheapest around so be sure to have a few before you head out, as I found out the bars in town can be quite costly. In fact, with Jimmy at the bar and the friendliness of the other guests, you may not even want to venture any further!

I can say a lot more but I think that it’s pretty much covered in all the other reviews. I will definitely be going back and I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Mykonos. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
