Tried this out over Easter and had a great soak. Was collected right on time from The Station in Queenstown and taken to the Onsen which overlooks the Shotover River. Everyone was helpful and friendly, the onsen is beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. I had a wonderful soak with the roof open and enjoyed watching the beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend this attraction to anyone, a great counterpoint to all the high adrenaline activities of Queenstown.

Wow, did I enjoy that. If you're a long lazy hot bath person (or even if you're not) then this is the definitive experience for you. A more sublimely relaxing dip you couldn't wish to take.

The place itself affords magnificent views across a river valley to mountains and the electric windows mean you can just about make it an open air bath. At 38 degrees or more the alpine water (with or without bubbles) is a luxurious way to ease away the stresses of the day.

Sitting in the red ceddar tub watching the last of the evening sun against the tops of the mountains was quite magical. We were trully impressed.

Ten times better than any old spa bath.

Onsen Hot pools in Queenstown is one lovely spot.We had one hour of luxurious time soaking in the hot tub.
The complex is brand new and very clean and tidy, the hot pools themselves are a wooden tub in your own room.You get the tub and shower changing area and book in increments of one hour.
The pools overlook the shotover river and mountains and you look out over it all .It is very private and great for romantics ,think proposals ,engagements etc.
We loved it a lot and will go back in a heartbeat.
The temperature of the pool can be changed to suit you, you can put in cold water which comes from a pipe up above you and you can hire aromatherapy burners for extra romance and relaxation.
THe roof of the room moves so that you are out in the open air - beautiful or you can close it depending on what you prefer.We had it open and it was bliss.The owner will also pick you up and drop you off from the Queenstown hotels.
The owner was a friendly man who was really nice and a very safe driver,they have made a wonderful spot and I cant wait to go back

These pools opened in August 07 and do not seem to be very well known or promoted. We saw an ad in one of the local guide books.
Pools are located 10 - 15 mins out of Queenstown and they have a free shuttle bus that picks up at "The Station" which is in central Queenstown. The complex consists of 6 private rooms which each have their own hot tub, heated to 39 degrees celcius. There is a retractable glass window which opens up to reveal a wonderful view of the shotover river, so you can sit in the tub and look out onto the view. Each room also has a shower and changing area so you are completely private.
One impediment to privacy is the helicopter which periodically goes past on its way to drop passengers off for rafting trips. So if you are standing naked in the room, you may well have a bunch of rafters having a gawk! YOu can hear the helicopter coming so can get down into the water if needs be.
Charges are $70 for 2 people for 1 hour. This is a bit on the steep side, but it was a lovely experience. My only gripes would be that they charge an additional $2.50 per person for towels which should really be included and there is also a lack of atmosphere in the communal area where you first arrive to. It is a bit stark and not very "zen". However when you go into you own room, it is simple but nice.
