We stayed at the Pachtuv Palace as a treat for my husbands 50th birthday and it was a very special experience.

We booked the cultural package and were picked up at the airport by a very smart driver in a Mercedes limo.
We were met at the hotel entrance by Hanna, the receptionist, who could not have been more friendly and helpful and explained the package we had booked to us including the various museum and transport tickets. She also advised on restaurants.

She then told us that we had been upgraded as it was a special occasion to a one bedroom deluxe suite. The suite was in the original palace across the courtyard and through the archway at the rear of the hotel. The suite was extremely spacious, comfortable and very quiet.

We found all members of staff to be very courteous and helpful.

The hotel is well situated for the sights and a couple of minutes walk from the Charles bridge.

Even though the weather was changeable on our visit, we loved Prague and will definitely visit again and stay at the Pachtuv.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel valentines weekend. We were lucky enough to get room 219. It had everything from a laundry room, kitchen/dining room, living room and even a four poster bed. The hotel is spotless and so quiet even though there is work going on fitting air condtioning to all the rooms, we never heard a thing. The room was so inviting to come back to after the cold outside. Take dvd's with you if you prefer a night in as there are only 2 channels, cnn and mtv that are not in checz.

Good local restaurant outside hotel turn to left and walk directly across the street its the one with the little board outside with live piano music nightly on it. The food is excellent and the place is lit by candles with comfy sofas. The charles bridge is directly to the right of the hotel and a 2 min walk, the astronomical clock is about 10 mins away at the back to the hotel and the castle is just across the bridge and 20 min uphill walk, but there are plenty of cosy pubs and restaurants to break the walk. Taxi from hotel is 500 czk if you use hotel merc it is 950 czk but it was great to use on the arrival as they are there at the airport and know exactly where to go so you have no stress when you arrive. We did use the local taxi on the return journey. The hotel is as good as all the other reviews said it was.

We stayed at the Pachtuv from Feb 15-18. Although the hotel is undergoing renovations to install air conditioning we heard little to no noise nor did we see a lot of construction going on. When we arrived we were immediately offered a hot or cold beverage and were thrilled to learned that we had been upgraded (5 grades) to an excellence honeymoon suite. Our 1100 sq. ft room had a full living and dining room area, kitchen and one and a half baths. Undoubtedly the best feature of our grand room was the original 15th century frescos on the walls and ceilings. The hotel is wonderfully located about 200 meters from the Charles Bridge on the Vltava River. Also close by is the Old Towne Square. Perfect location as we were walking distance from all of the best sites. Breakfast was included in our room price and includes made to order eggs, pancakes and more. Perhaps only downside to the hotel is that they do not have a lounge or restaurant, but with all of the great places to eat and drink in Prague, you wouldn't want to stay in your hotel anyway. Special thanks to Sharka at the concierge desk! She was so helpful and informative and made our stay in Prague even better. I highly recommend this hotel which combines old world charm and modern features.

“Biggest suite of my life”

MaMaison Pachtuv Palace

Feb 7, 2008
4/5 found this review helpful

This hotel is under renovation till May. They are installing airco so that problem (as can be read in many reviews) will disappear. Now only 20 of 50 rooms are available. I was offered a Deluxe One Bedroom Suite for 290 Euro but when I arrived I had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite, huge, under the roof, with wooden beams. It had a fully equiped kichenette with minibar with space for own drinks and food. The Tv has a DVd player that also plays CDs and that was great for a long evening in. I counted 11 chairs, most just as decoration. All was very big and comfortable and breakfast was included and wonderful .I had it brought to the room ,made to order. This hotel feels as a private apartment building which it was untill 3 years ago and I am sure nothing nicer exists in Prague.
One drawback was however that it was a bit cold. despite the heating on 32 degrees C, it did not get cosy enough for what couples in love like to do in bed, not without sheets and blankets. It did not bother me but my partner found it a bit cold. . So I guess it is best to stay here in spring and autumn summer. There is a heater though. One can bump hius hed at the wooden beam in the centre of the rom. Next time I would prefer a less rustic room but thius was still the best hotel night of my life, unforgettable and the staff is fantastic.

“Pachtuv, Pragues' heart of romance”

MaMaison Pachtuv Palace

Dec 19, 2007
4/4 found this review helpful

Having visited quite a few luxurious hotels around the globe, I was astonished that only 1000km of the front door of my residence there is a hotel that could amaze me once more. By far this must be the most romantic hotel I've ever visited, with a very professional and friendly staff present.
Everything went smoothly from the time I arrived at the airport, where the hotel had foreseen my transfer at a very competetive price compared with other taxis (950CZK = appr 35 euro), over check-in and residing there for four nights, until their limo dropped me off again at the airfield. The room, junior-suite deluxe with a superb overview of Charles Bridge and the Vltava river, was very stylish, being old-fashioned as it should be in a baroque residence but with a well-equipped modern bathroom and seperate toilet.
The location is ideal - close to Pragues' best restaurants - near the city center but just far away enough to avoid the continuous crowdiness and noise. A walk to the centre only took me 6 minutes to be exact. Charles Bridge is only two minutes on foot!
During my stay, the hotel was fully booked (all 50 rooms), yet I had the distinct impression that only 10 or 12 guest where residing there. It is the first hotel I ever encountered where you hear absolutely nothing at all of the other residents, not when they are in their rooms, not when they are walking down the corridors... Probably due to the thick walls and massive wooden doors, yet all these elements combined give you an enormous feeling of rest and privacy.
Only downside is the lack of airconditioning, and normally this would cost points when I write a review, but I'm willing to make an exception in this case; to my humble opinion, by installing central airconditioning a great deal of charm of this building would be destroyed, and again for those who doubt it, the hotel overall is AT LEAST 5 stars worth, the level of service and courtesy of the staff can only be found in 5 1/2 star hotels.
Since 2007, the MaMaison Pachtuv Palace is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and this is a membership-title they well deserve.
