I decided to take my wife to Prague to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. After some serious research I opted for The Icon (and then crossed my fingers). On arrival we were surprised to find a very trendy lobby and a lovely greeting from two lovely girls (introducing themselves as Sylvia and Carolina) at reception. After checking us in, we were taken up to our room and I was delighted to find that the hotel had taken note of a quiet email I had sent before telling them we were celebrating our anniversary. We were given a beautiful room, two large chocolate hearts and two free massages at the Asian Wellness centre in the hotel.
In my opinion, the Icon has found the perfect balance between personal "welcome home"-type service and professionalism. The hotel has rethought many of the ideas that hotels traditionally impose on their guests and centred their entire service around the enjoyment of their guests. For example, my wife and I have a running joke that we never make a hotel breakfast when abroad as we usually get to sleep late and wake up late. Our stay at the Icon was no exception - however, when we came down on the first morning, we were told that Breakfast was still available for us and was included in the rate - at 1.30pm!!
The rooms are fantastically designed and the beds are amazing. The safe in the room can fit two laptops (I couldn't help it... it had to come with me), and there is free internet throughout the hotel.
Having stayed at boutique hotels across Europe, I must say this was one of the best hotels I have come across in a while. I would recommend this hotel to any young couple as the perfect base from which to explore this super-romantic city.
