“The St. Regis, beyond our expectations”

The St. Regis Washington, D.C.

5 of 5 stars
Centennial, Colorado
Aug 17, 2008

My family & I just returned from a stay at the St. Regis in Washington DC. Initially, my teenagers found it a bit stuffy, but quickly settled into enjoying the wonderful service. The location is 1 1/2 blocks from the North side of The White House. We easily walked to the National Mall and beyond. The check in and check out went smoothly--no hidden charges. The concierge service helped us with several items, from actually booking bike tours to suggesting dinner establishments. The continental breakfast each morning was nice; fresh fruit, bagels, lox, pastries, muffins and fresh squeezed orange juice-not overwhelming. The room was well appointed and quiet with extremely comfortable beds, a flat screen TV, a well placed full length mirror and an unexpected "Electric TV" in the bathroom mirror--(perfect for not missing a moment of The Summer Olympics). Our room faced out to the front of the hotel---no "view" of the sights, but not a disappointment either. There are double sinks with a large glass shower (no tub). There is a charge for WIFI. We opted to use the pleasant business center, with several computers, printer, stationery and bottled water at each station. The staff didn't miss a thing. When a cab was ordered for our departure, a confirmation letter was delivered with all particulars listed. A birthday card and birthday cake with chocolate dipped strawberries were a lovely surprise on my special day. Room service was pleasant and prompt (you must try the kobe beef sliders-unbelievable)! This hotel has been open for less than 1 year and is beautifully decorated and extraordinarily clean. Our stay couldn't have been nicer--we would definitely return to the St. Regis and strongly recommend this hotel for business travelers and as well as vacationing families.

“Great location and difficult to fault”

The St. Regis Washington, D.C.

The hotel is very central and walking distance to all the main sites or a short taxi journey. We didn't use the metro but it is equally as handy.

The rooms were of a decent size with reasonable sized bathrooms. The walk-in shower was fantastic after a hot day doing the sights. The rooms were of the standard expected for this class of hotel and I couldn't fault them on any grounds

I travelled with my family and the confirmed connecting rooms for the children was another plus.

The check-in staff and concierge team were very helpful and I couldn't fault any of the restaurant suggestions.

The only down side was the limited inhouse dining (the restaurant is being renovated) and were it not for that I would have given it maximum stars. I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again if returning to Washington

“Beautiful, Elegant, Outstanding Service!!”

The St. Regis Washington, D.C.

My husband and I stayed at the St. Regis over the July 4th weekend as a little "stay-cation" (we live in the area).

From the moment we pulled up to the building to check in to the time we drove away after checking out it was fantastic. The lobby is classy and inviting. Lemonade, tea and soft drinks are in the lobby early in the day, and wine and soft drinks in the afternoon. You can sit there and have a pleasant chat with a companion or with other hotel guests.

We have never experienced a more pleasant and accomodating staff! Every request and need was quickly attended to with graciousness and smiles. You don't even get your own ice: make a call and a "butler" almost immediately brings it to you in a crystal ice bucket, even several times a day. There is 24-hour room service and a 24 hour concierge service.

The room was great. While not huge it was a decent space, tastefully decorated and with a Tlarge, beautiful chandelier over the bed. While there was no tub, the shower was HUGE--probably large enough for 4 people--with both a hand-held shower and a stable over-head shower. The piece-de-resistance was the "magic mirror" that is actually a t.v. , with a remote control. There is a phone in the bathroom, and two in the bedroom, including one cordless.

We had a wonderful stay, and have recommended the hotel to all of our friends!

“Warm & Efficient Service, Perfect Location!”

The St. Regis Washington, D.C.

Stayed at the St. Regis while in the DC area for a family event out in Montgomery County. Absolutely beautiful hotel with a great staff and very large rooms - We stayed on the seventh floor, the only floor with the big palladium windows in each room.

Valet service was quick and friendly, and "private dining" was super-
quick. I called for a pot of coffee Saturday morning, and it showed up less than four minutes later! And, upon returning to our room a little after midnight, I placed a breakfast order hang-tag on the door, for 7:20 the next morning - At EXACTLY 7:20, we got a knock on the door.

We would certainly have liked a tub in the room, but, hey, it's an historic building (beautifully restored and maintained) so sometimes you have to make some small compromises. The bathroom overall was very spacious, as was the shower enclosures, and the toiletires provided were top-notch (and the in-mirror TV was fun!).

The location can't really be beat - Two blocks from the rear of the White House, a block and a half to the red Metro line.

All in all, we'd definitely return to the St. Regis the next time we're in DC!

“Fantastic!!!!”

Wow, what service!!! I stayed at the hotel with my family shortly after they re-opened. Of course, the hotel is gorgeous and the location is prime. But more importantly, I was incredibly impressed with the service we received. We have small children, and while there is not much to do in the hotel for kids, the staff really went out of their way to make the kids feel welcome. As a parent, that was much appreciated and definitely made my stay far more enjoyable.
