We decided on a Saturday to drive down to DC and combine work with pleasure with 2 of our kids. Drove down early Monday. Parking nearby but not part of the hotel. The room was on the small side, but the hotel was nice feeling, cozy but charming. The only real beef I have is the lack of sufficient air conditioning during the heat of the DC summer season. The first night we suffered, thought it was working, kind of, but as the night wore on it seemed to be more obvious that it wasn't working up to par. On our way out in the morning, we told the front desk. They were very friendly and agreed to look at the problem. We came back to the hotel at night hoping for a big change. The A/C was never fixed and never mentioned to us. The location was great if you want to walk around the capitol area, visit the Air and Space Museum, the new Newseum, etc. However, not great to walk around at night re: the nearby homeless shelter. That wasn't a big deal for us because we were so tired from walking and sightseeing during the day that we just ate somewhere else and stayed at the hotel after dinner. Don't eat breakfast at the hotel--overpriced as typical but food so so. Maybe the lunch/breakfast is better but we didn't try it. Overall, a nice charming hotel close to the sights but the A/C is the dealbreaker for me.
