My husband and I stayed in the Phoenix Park for three nights in August having chosen it on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. It is certainly very convenient being just steps away from Union Station and a short distance to the Capitol. The room was very comfortable....after we had asked to be moved because of an air conditioning unit right outdside the window of the original room we had been allocated. The bed was very comfortable and the room of adequate size for a short stay and average for what one expects in a city. The bathroom was tiny and there was really no where to set toiletries. The one thing I really did not like was the fact that there is basically no public seating area in the hotel. There are a few chyairs in the lobby in a very small space and it is not somewhere one could sit and chat. The Dubliner was just ok. We ate there on the first night of our stay and were not overly impressed. A residents' lounge or area would make a big difference to this hotel as one does not always want to sit in a noisy bar. Overall I would probably recommend it for its location and the comfy beds. There is a very nice Grill type restruant just across the road in the Old Post Office building..... try it.
