“The best in DC”

What a fantastic hotel. I was here for a conference and had the best time. The service from the front desk to the concierge, bellmen, housekeeping, all were great. They made my stay very welcome. I especially loved the massage chair in the room. The location was also great, near metro and Dupont circle. Overall I would say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in DC and will only stay here in the future. The only minor negative I have was that there are no ice machines, but each day I called for ice and it was brought to my room in about 5 minutes.

Since I booked through Priceline, I got my hotel room at a huge discount ($125.00 per night!), so the fact that we had no coffee pot or hair dryer is really not that big of a deal. We did have this great full body massge chair that was so nice after a day of walking! The bar was cozy and fairly priced, but the best thing is the location, well within walking distance to the National Mall. The beds were great, the room was pretty clean and updated, and the staff was very nice, especially the door men/concierge. Had I paid full price for this hotel, I would have a little more complaining to do, but overall, it was a pretty good deal and I would stay there again for that price.

“Unbelievably friendly and helpful staff, massage chair in the room, very clean”

I stayed in the Madison with my four year old daughter and 18 year old cousin for a weekend. It was a leisure trip to see the sights and go to the zoo. We absolutely loved this hotel.

The room was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and the amenities in our room included: a human touch massage chair from the sharper image, an iHome iPod dock/alarm clock, all the lamps had electrical outlets in them which was very convenient for charging cell phones, laptops, and what have you, the shampoo, conditioner, and soap samples were already conveniently placed within the shower. The bed was very comfortable, and the large flat panel tv was very nice. Overall an excellent room.

The staff in this establishment are incredible. Everyone was unbelievably kind and helpful, and we found most services were prompt and thorough. The room service was expensive, but isn't it always pricey? We had breakfast in our room the first morning, and everything was great - the food and the service.

I highly recommend this hotel.

“An excellent hotel for business, but not for tourists”

My wife and I stayed there one night when we were visting the sites in DC. We booked the room through priceline and paid $150 with the taxes. This is one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The hotel is run by one of the most professional staffs that I have ever seen. When I checked in I told them that I was a member of their frequent guest program and the person at the front desk upgraded my room.

My problem with the hotel is that it is in the middle of a business district, and there are no shops or anything near it. Everthing closes on the weekend and at night. The nearest restaraunts are even 4 blocks away. There is a coffee shop, across the street, but it was closed on a rainy Sunday morning. I had to go a couple of blocks away to find a Starbucks.

I do agree with what others have said about the parking. We paid $35. Thats too much.

Would I stay here again, yes, if I was staying here on business. No, if I were coming down to visit the tourist spots. I would pick a hotel closer to the mall.

“Lovely hotel but a little lacking”

I booked our 4 night stay at the Madison, via Priceline.com, and received a rather good price when I bid my own price. I had never visited DC before and after looking at the hotel website, I was very excited to get to stay at such a lovely hotel. Upon arrival, we were able to check in early and staff was very friendly. Our room was delightful…the view was nothing to write home about…but the flat screen TV was great and the beds were very comfortable. However, things seemed to go downhill from there. Our room was lacking the many items that were listed on their “room amenities” list, including robes, a coffee maker, and drinking glasses. After 3 days, our room had not been cleaned, even once, but there had been evidence that housekeeping had stopped by…new bathroom amenities had been tossed on our desk. When we called the front desk, we were told that it would be cleaned immediately, so we left the room, and returned an hour later and nothing had been done. When we approached the front desk, they were unsympathetic. Finally, our room was cleaned, but we weren’t given towels, or even toilet paper. Also, when I approached the front desk to borrow their listed “use of complimentary umbrellas”, the woman at the front desk was very rude and told me that they didn’t have any and they only give them to guests. When I informed her that she was the individual who checked me in 3 days prior, she just stared at me. I do have to say, the Doormen and Concierge were WONDERFUL and very helpful.
