Stayed 3 days + 2 nights in mid-June 2008 in a mini-suite with 2 queen beds. Originally booked directly through hotel which quoted us $147 AAA rate; but, we later found $136 rate online at www.bestwestern.com website. Hotel refused to match web price and we ended up canceling the $147/night reservation and booked the room via company website at $136/night instead.
Other reviewers were right...you can't beat the location of this hotel; it's immediately across the street from the Disneyland gates. Great especially when you have little kids.
Some hotels are old but don't look or feel it; however, this one does (look and smell "old"). Was in Room 374, and it was (marginally) clean. Towels were coarse and scratchy. Carpet was dark and dirty--never allowed any of my family members to go barefoot while in the room. Room had a musty smell and bathroom had mildewy odor; toilet itself was a big "eww"/"ick". Although room had a refrigerator and microwave, beware that housekeeping staff likes to reset/turn off the refrigerator, thereby allowing all of the food contents to spoil while you're at Disneyland.
Front desk staff was 50-50 in terms of professionalism, being knowledgeable and courteous. When I asked the young woman at the front desk one evening how to retrieve voicemail messages on my phone, instead of saying "I don't know how but let me find out and get back to you", she instead gave me information which was utterly useless ("all you need to do is press 6" she said which doesn't do a thing). However, the young man working the evening/night shift was helpful when it came to answering questions about Disneyland, etc.
Continental breakfast at Captain Kidd's is ok, with short hours available to hotel guests (7:30am-9:30am). Get there early if you want any doughnuts, because they're usually gone by 8:00-8:30am. OJ was bitter, but bagels were fine and the coffee was adequate.
Would we stay here again? Hard to say. Location and price can't be beat, and perhaps if it was only for one night.
