Our family just spent 5 nights at the Quality Inn Maingate in Anaheim, and we enjoyed a really good stay there!

We chose this hotel because it is DOG FRIENDLY, and we had our pup with us. In the past, some pet friendly hotels have tried to stick us in disgusting "pet" rooms; while we were in a room specifically designated for dogs, it was as clean as any other hotel room we've stayed in. They actually seem to put the $25 cleaning fee to use here! Upon check-in, our dog received a letter about his and his family's conduct during our stay, along with a yummy treat. Cute!

Our room was a "deluxe" room: two queen beds, microwave, and mini fridge. Spending a little more for the microwave and fridge ended up saving us a lot of money on food.
One of the beds was really comfortable, the other not so comfortable (our exhausted children didn't seem to notice). The room had a small table and two chairs, though they were snugged up against one of the beds, necessitating acrobatics in order to get into the far chair. :-P

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool -- sort of small -- and jacuzzi were well maintained. A washer and two dryers ($2 per load) are in the pool area, as is the ice machine.
The continental breakfast offered: two juices, two cereals, a variety of fruit, bread/toast, milk, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, muffins, pasteries, and the ever popular Belgian waffles. All of the food was fresh and nicely presented. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.
A free USA Today was delivered to our door each weekday morning. Also available is the LA Times for $.18 per day, $.36 on Sundays.

As for location, the Quality Inn is in a good spot for those visiting Disneyland -- approximately 1 mile from the parks. Staying in a hotel that is walking distance to Disneyland is probably ideal; however, the ART shuttles ran frequently and stopped right in front of our hotel. We went back to our room for a rest and a swim two out of our three days at Disneyland, and the 5-minute ride there and back worked out really well.

I feel bad for those who didn't have the good experience that we did at the Quality Inn Maingate! Our family would stay here again, even if we didn't have our pooch with us, and I definitely recommend it to other travelers looking for an above average budget hotel. We found the Quality Inn Maingate to be clean, comfortable, conveniently located, staffed by friendly folks, and priced just right. :0)

I gave this the hotel the benefit of the doubt by reading some of the reviews. Some are good and some are bad... Our stay was the worst, the people at the desk do not know what to do. The keys for the rooms do not work. There is limited hot water that comes to the rooms. The towels are so thin I can see through them. They should change the name of this hotel form QUALITY to JOKESTER INN. The new slogan of this hotel should be the BIGGEST JOKE OF HOTELS.

First the good stuff. Good location for Disney and the Convention Center. Good public transport links to the rest of Orange County. Breakfast offers a decent selection. Vending machines on site, a Jack-in-the-Box next door and good high-speed internet in the lobby.

The average stuff..... the telephone charges listed on a card in the room, in the guest book and on the phone itself are all different. You don't really know what you are paying until you check out. The pool is small and overlooks Jack-in-the-Box next door, but the pool itself is ok.

Now the bad news...... the beds are quite uncomfortable. The bathrooms are tiny and the sinks are outside of the bathroom. Had problems with the plug in the sink and the safe only worked intermittently (thankfully it locked first time, every time, but occasionally didn't open again on the first attempt). The tv package is appauling (only the free-to-air channels and HBO - no ESPN, CNN, etc). The room decor is ok, not exactly modern and doesn't look new, but the exterior could definitely use some work.

Overall, ok if you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in the tourist area of Anaheim. However the Best Western just up the road is probably a better deal.

This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever been to. The hotel is not new, the ads say the rooms are newly renovated, but that is a joke. The hotel is in disrepair and you can never speak with a manager. We checked out a week early and went across the street to the Hampton Inn.
