“Lose the pledge”

Quality Inn Maingate

I chose to stay at this hotel mainly because it was a mile from Disneyland. I was traveling with family (wife + 5 year old + 3 month old).

I specifically reserved a room with a refrigerator and microwave (paying $10 more than the same room without the fridge and microwave) only because of the convenience it offered to a family with small kids. But the moment I checked in (around 10 PM) I noticed that the microwave and fridge were missing! I immediately complained but was told that the best they could do at that time was offer the fridge and microwave of the lobby.

But that was not acceptable to us for various reasons and we declined that offer. So not only did the milk that we got along with us go to waste, I had to make a couple of trips to the grocery store in the middle of the night to get milk.

They did put in a fridge and microwave the next day, but given that we returned from Disneyland very tired late at night, the fridge and microwave went unused.

Come time for check out, I started to argue with the manager. Now, the pledge that was prominently displayed in the lobby was that if the hotel was not able to sort any issue in a timely manner and in a manner unsatisfactory to the customer, they would not charge the customer. So I asked not to be charged for the first night given all the troubles we had to bear, but the manager refused to cooperate. And when I mentioned the pledge that was prominently displayed, the manager bluntly told me that that pledge was not their's!

Eventually, I did get a $20 discount, but I am not going back to this hotel again.

“Not the Ritz, but good value”

Good rate over the internet. Rooms were clean. Beds slightly uncomfortable. Breakfast good: waffles, milk, juice, etc. (better then most on the stip--if you don't like it you can skip over to Jack-in-the-box) Sink area is somewhat small. Paper in the morning is nice. Helpful staff. Parking is very near the rooms--safer but could be noisy. Overall, good place to stay if you are on a budget.

“A good value”

Being from across the country, we were really nervous about choosing a hotel. The military rate was great for this hotel. We got there and found it a little worn down but the staff was very kind. The room was clean and comfortable. The trolley to Disney picked up right out front, the tickets were sold right in the lobby for just a dollar, kids rode free. Breakfast was great, waffles, juice, cereal, toast, muffins and lots of coffee. I am glad we stayed here.

“Lovely hotel with a great breakfast”

We stayed at the Quality Inn Maingate for two nights and loved it. The room was very clean and spacious with a comfy bed. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was excellent with a good selection of food (including waffles) and a morning paper. We enjoyed a quiet soak in the spa pool and made use of the convenient laundry facilities. This was above the quality you might expect for such a reasonable rate and we would definitely stay there again.

“Would stay there again!”

Quality Inn Maingate

Our family just spent 5 nights at the Quality Inn Maingate in Anaheim, and we enjoyed a really good stay there!

We chose this hotel because it is DOG FRIENDLY, and we had our pup with us. In the past, some pet friendly hotels have tried to stick us in disgusting "pet" rooms; while we were in a room specifically designated for dogs, it was as clean as any other hotel room we've stayed in. They actually seem to put the $25 cleaning fee to use here! Upon check-in, our dog received a letter about his and his family's conduct during our stay, along with a yummy treat. Cute!

Our room was a "deluxe" room: two queen beds, microwave, and mini fridge. Spending a little more for the microwave and fridge ended up saving us a lot of money on food.
One of the beds was really comfortable, the other not so comfortable (our exhausted children didn't seem to notice). The room had a small table and two chairs, though they were snugged up against one of the beds, necessitating acrobatics in order to get into the far chair. :-P

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool -- sort of small -- and jacuzzi were well maintained. A washer and two dryers ($2 per load) are in the pool area, as is the ice machine.
The continental breakfast offered: two juices, two cereals, a variety of fruit, bread/toast, milk, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, muffins, pasteries, and the ever popular Belgian waffles. All of the food was fresh and nicely presented. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.
A free USA Today was delivered to our door each weekday morning. Also available is the LA Times for $.18 per day, $.36 on Sundays.

As for location, the Quality Inn is in a good spot for those visiting Disneyland -- approximately 1 mile from the parks. Staying in a hotel that is walking distance to Disneyland is probably ideal; however, the ART shuttles ran frequently and stopped right in front of our hotel. We went back to our room for a rest and a swim two out of our three days at Disneyland, and the 5-minute ride there and back worked out really well.

I feel bad for those who didn't have the good experience that we did at the Quality Inn Maingate! Our family would stay here again, even if we didn't have our pooch with us, and I definitely recommend it to other travelers looking for an above average budget hotel. We found the Quality Inn Maingate to be clean, comfortable, conveniently located, staffed by friendly folks, and priced just right. :0)
