“Try it - you'll LOVE it!”

Lemon Tree Hotel

We stayed at the Lemon Tree for the first time last week and we loved it - staff so helpful, room very clean, little touches that added alot. It was hugely refreshing to stay in a non-cookie-cutter hotel that offers so much.

Pool, spa, even fitness center, but the gardens in the center take the cake for sure.

Once you have coffee (after your free breakfast!) on your patio overlooking the gardens, you'll go back again and again - I know we plan to.

“Lemon Tree Inn is a LEMON!!!”

I thought I was booking a hotel, not a cheap motel. People writing good reviews of this place must be on something. The so called 'quaint' Spanish decorations = old furtniture. Nothing more. Walls are thin with a tiny, tiny bathroom. The breakfast was a joke.

The noise from the main street is aweful. Maybe one row of rooms might be quiet enough. Even then, this should be called The Sour Tree Motel. For the price I paid, I'd book a Hilton, Crowne or a Marriott next time. Perhaps Motel 6 would at least be cheaper.

I highly, highly do not recommend this place. You should skip it and spend your money elsewhere. I'd hate to see ANYONE else go through what I went through.

“Lemon Tree Hotel - Sweet & Sour”

Lemon Tree Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Kenilworth, IL
Aug 14, 2008

Found this hotel on American Express and thought it would be great. It was, with just a few exceptions - all very fixable. We were in the area for National Cycling races and had easy access to Freeways 5 & 57. LA driving on the freeways is crazy - people zip all over the place, FAST, without turn signals...! North East Anaheim is not Malibu, so don't expect a lot of fancy restaurants in the area. Local restaurants are pretty much chains. Local mall has a great grocery store. Pool was great - lush gardens, several comfortable lounge chairs, and virtually empty on weekdays. 1 bedroom apt. decor fine though the mission-style futon bed was seriously "sat out" and could use a new futon. My back will take a few days to recover from sleeping on it. Room was very clean. the lemon theme is very evident - even the soap & shampoo are lemon scented! Energy efficient (Good!) compact flourescent bulbs everywhere, but not enough light in the vanity area, and some of the lampshades were cockeyed. Kitchen area was fine, though there was no collander or oven rack in the oven. We bought a collander, large spoon and pasta server at the local 98 cent store & left them there so next guest will benefit. Wireless internet was spotty. OK in lobby, unreliable in the rooms. Charge is $5 per week, which is pretty good, considering the big hotels (Hilton, etc.) charge $9.95/day. Staff was very accomodating - they brought us a rollaway with no problems, gave us a new internet access code when it didn't work, gave us huge quantities of ice in the evening (for icing a sports injury). The breakfast was very adequate too - pastry, muffins, yogurts, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee, tea. There was a laundry room on the first floor - great! There was some noise from the room directly above us, probably chairs scraping across the tile floor - not enough that would distract us from anything. This hotel was perfect for our purposes - we needed to be able to cook a few meals, and store snacks, and needed some room for the bikes. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families who do not need (or want to pay for) super luxurious surroundings - there is nothing your kids can break or wreck here - even the colorful pottery on the hallway tables is glued down!

“LOVED IT , cant wait to return”

Lemon Tree Hotel

I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment on the bottom floor. I loved that it had a private entrance. There was always a parking spot for me right outside the door. The Spanish decor was great. The rooms were large with huge closets. Both rooms had sliding glass doors that led to a patio. The desk was welcoming and informative. I went back several times for directions and local information and they were always pleasant and knowledgable.
The only 2 things that prevented me from rating it "excellent" instead of above average were 1) The apartment upstairs was not very sound proof from footsteps, I could hear a lot of running around from children and chairs being moved. 2) The hot tub only had 1 working Jet, the water felt great and was clean but it was more like a bath than a hot tub.
