“As close to your own private island in paradise as you will ever get”

This vacation was the second-best trip of my life, and I'm pretty well traveled (the first-best was a trip to the Galapagoes). My wife and I were there for a half-week, and while we could have stayed for a longer trip (forever, really) we did a lot in the time we had, and came home fulfilled.

Way out among the reefs, Long Caye is a beautiful island where you can do all kinds of activities: kayaking, snorkling, windsurfing. Surf kayaking was a new one for me, but it was a blast. Even if you haven't done these things before, the guides are very helpful and nice. They will make sure that you enjoy yourselves thoroughly. And they have the best and most up-to-date gear.

This trip is great for couples or families because you can be as active or as laid back as you want. You can hang out with the other guests, or go for a walk or spend time in your private cabana.

The biggest surprise? The food was incredibly good! Unlike other vacations where you have to constantly wonder where your next meal is coming from, on Long Caye every meal we were surprised by some inventive flavor of lime, soy sauce, coconut or something else. Its tough to pick a favorite, but the ginger cookies and the fish tacos are contenders.

Generally I would say that having everything right there on the island made the vacation extremely relaxing. You don't have to worry about constantly arranging transportation and guides like you would on the mainland. All the activities are right off the shore of the island, and there is always something to do. Plus: hammocks, food, and a change of clothes are all right there too. It makes a big difference.

It turns out to be a deal, too. Everything is included, so compare it with the price of food, tranportation, guides, boat rides, etc. You will do more and have more fun with your vacation time if you go to Long Caye.

“Fabulous Belize Island with Slickrock”

Long Caye Resort at Glover's Reef

I just got back from a fabulous week at Long Caye with Slickrock. The island was beautiful and we got to learn and do all kinds of fun stuff: sea kayaking, snorkelling, surf kayaking, windsurfing, and SCUBA diving. It was all-inclusive (other than SCUBA) and the guides were completely professional and organized. Our guide was knowledgable, fun, flexible, patient, and encouraging. It was laid-back and fun. The coral reefs around the island were great and our guide taught us a lot about fish, coral, sponges, etc. We also had plenty of time to relax. The island was not crowded since it's private. The food was good and plentiful. It was exactly as advertised: a great relaxing and active vacation!

“Slickrock - a GREAT adventure!”

I was a little wary of the trip, but everyone was friendly and fun. You could do an activity or not, I think that everyone chose to rest a bit at some part of the week. The things I saw and did were amazing – the pod of dolphins while we were kayaking around the island, looking for sea creatures while we were snorkling or in the tidal pools at low tide, the view from my cabana, the sunrise and sunset, the volleyball games at dusk (I didn’t know I had a such a good serve), and the fact that I windsurfed - it was something that I never in my life thought I would be capable of doing (it still puts a smile on my face). I will return, and I will recommend it to some of my friends (for others it would be too rustic) because the island was just so peaceful, the guides so helpful and the food was so good!

My trip to Belize couldn't have been better-and I owe it all to Slickrock. I stayed at Long Caye during the second part of my adventure week tour. Neri was very knowledgable and intent on ensuring that all of us had the time of our lives.

We kayaked, snorkeled-I even learned how to windsurf! All the equipment was in great shape and much care had gone into maintaining it. I enjoyed relaxing in the palapas and was disappointed to have to leave-I enjoyed ending my days with a volleyball game and listening to the waves as I fell asleep. Food was tasty and plentiful. I feel lucky to have chosen Slickrock.

“Slickrock Adventures in Belize”

Long Caye Resort at Glover's Reef

We just returned from a week with Slickrock Adventures on their Adventure Island at Glover's Reef. It was wonderful!! They thought through each and every detail of the week from the accomodations at the Biltmore Hotel in Belize City to the trip to Brodie’s(grocery store in Belize) for more supplies, to the boat ride and ginger for sea sickness if we needed it, to the tour of the island, to the various orientations... and on and on. We loved all of our guides!! They were both knowledgable as well as very personable and they continued to meld these traits together to provide a fun vacation. We were given the opportunity to do snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, kayak surfing, rolling in a kayak, as well as paddling in a kayak and then snorkeling once we were anchored. Each day was filled with these activities or filled with "hammock surfing" it all depended on the weather - which was perfect - or what we wanted to do. The food was wonderful and there was always plenty. They had water and other beverages available whenever we wanted as well as the cookie jar for snacks. You could stay as busy or as relaxed as you wanted. Each night was spent playing board games, a strange form of island croquet that we are still laughing about, hermit crab races, talks on fish identification, geology of the reefs, Mayan culture or the chance to gaze over the ocean if that was what we wanted. Our children are 15 and 17 and they were worried about being stuck on an island with a bunch of adults but they had a ball. The guides quickly bonded with them and made the week fun with volleyball, games, etc. We stayed in cabanas which looked out over the ocean. Some nights were a little warm if the breeze died down but we still loved the style of the cabana. If we were tired the next day we just took a nap in our hammock on the front porch. It was rustic enough to be fun and yet nice enough to wash your face and brush your teeth with running water and an actual sink while still taking a shower which was surprisingly warm although rustic - I do have to say the hot shower at the Biltmore the night we got back to Belize City was nice but for a week it was still fine. I can't say enough about how great the week was and how impressed we were with everything that Slickrock did. Everything was first rate! At first it might seem a bit pricey but when you figure that everything, accomodations, food, unlimited beverages, and unlimited activities is included and you get the bonus of a private island the price was reasonable. Check out their website at www.slickrock.com for more details and then book your trip!
