I booked the trip with Vitalino after reading all of the excellent reviews here on Trip Advisor and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our cruise. We arrived in Belize in early July on the Carnival Legend. Roberto, one of Vitalino's tour guides met us at the peer and took us on an amazing adventure. We started out at the Mayan Ruins of Altun Ha. This is actually one of the only trips that combines both Altun Ha and cave tubing but Roberto made us feel comfortable that if we stuck to his schedule we would get to see it all. We spent a good hour at Altun Ha walking among the ruins. Roberto was an excellent tour guide who knew quite a bit about the area and the Mayan culture. Then it was off to cave tubing. On the way, we met up with Vitalino who just wanted to say, "hi" and make sure we were having a great time. By the time we got to the river, most of the cruise excursions had already finished up. At the river, we were met by Vitalino's son Elmer who joined us for the trip. We were fitted with inner tubes, head lamps and life jackets and then headed up river. We walked for about a half hour through the jungle and along the river. We actually went twice as far as most of the groups from the ship which allowed us to float through two caves rather than just one. As we were walking, we saw some groups on the river getting out of their tubes and walking through spots where the river was low. Roberto ensured us that "nobody ever walks at cavetubing.bz" - and he was right. The trip down the river was amazing. There were 7 of us - 4 adults and 3 kids. My mother is close to 70 but Roberto carried her inner tube during the walk and helped her into the water. We hooked ourselves together in a chain - I was skeptical about this when I read about it in the reviews - but it really worked out amazingly well and enabled Vitalino and Elmer to control the path we took through the caves. It also enabled us to navigate over the lower areas in the river and we never had to get out and walk. The rainforest was beautiful, we saw stalagmites and stalactites that took thousands of years to form and it was exciting floating through the caves. On the way back we stopped at a restaurant for some authentic Brazilian cuisine and, as promised, got back to the ship in plenty of time. This was a truly once in lifetime trip and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Belize.
