The cookery workshop is held a short car ride away from the main hotel in the most amazing location. The gardens and swimming pool are absolutely beautiful and very relaxing, unfortunately you can’t swim in the pool as it is for guests only.
We were given a very informative explanation of Moroccan food, spices and ingredients by Mohammed before making our way up to the most amazing kitchen I have ever seen.
My husband cooked Chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives and as I am vegetarian I was shown how to cooked a vegetable (Berber) tagine. There are a maximum of 6 students in each class and the pace was very easy going.
Once we had the salad and tagines prepared we had time to enjoy the grounds and explore the wonderful gardens before eating the lunches we had prepared.
My husband who is a novice cook enjoyed the session and learning the different skills. I very much enjoyed learning about the different ingredients and meals but I am a much more adventurous cook and did feel that I would have liked to have learned more. One of the ladies peeled and chopped most of my vegetables for me so all I really had to do was put everything in the tagine and add the spices.
I think this is an excellent session for beginners but maybe not for the more adventurous. However we did learn lots about what to look for in a tagine and have come home with 2 ready to amaze all our friends.
