“A Hidden Paradise!!!!”

La Maison Arabe Cooking Workshops

Apr 30, 2008

Wonderful setting, tranquil gardens with lush folliage surround a peaceful bathing area with shaded seating and dinner table. Cooking experience was out of this world, chopping carrots has never been so much fun - expertly guided by our interpreter Mohammed and the morrocan ladies there - a fabulous day and I can only hope that the recipies can be recreated in my kitchen at home!! A wonderfully clean and cool kitchen given the outside temperatures - everything provided.

During the last day of our Moroccan tour, we spent a lovely afternoon at the Maison arabe's garden estate, located just outside the old city of Marrakesh. The beautiful grounds and pool provide a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the medina. Inside the spacious and gorgeous house, we had an enjoyable, hands-on Moroccan cooking lesson with Mohammed, our talented chef and teacher. Not only did we make a delicioius chicken with preserved lemon and olive dish, we got to eat it for lunch! It was certainly one of the more memorable moments of our trip. We left relaxed, with full bellies and recipes to take home. I would strongly recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning more about Moroccan cuisine and culture.

“One of the highlights of my Moroccan holiday”

La Maison Arabe Cooking Workshops

Apr 22, 2008

We spent a beautiful afternoon learning how to cook Moroccan food from an authentic cook, in an immaculate kitchen, amidst stunning surroundings.

I've wowed my Australian friends by cooking the beautiful food on my return home.

As well as the dishes cooked in the session, participants can have more recipes emailed afterwards!

Excellent value, memorable and very worthwhile.

The cookery workshop is held a short car ride away from the main hotel in the most amazing location. The gardens and swimming pool are absolutely beautiful and very relaxing, unfortunately you can’t swim in the pool as it is for guests only.
We were given a very informative explanation of Moroccan food, spices and ingredients by Mohammed before making our way up to the most amazing kitchen I have ever seen.
My husband cooked Chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives and as I am vegetarian I was shown how to cooked a vegetable (Berber) tagine. There are a maximum of 6 students in each class and the pace was very easy going.
Once we had the salad and tagines prepared we had time to enjoy the grounds and explore the wonderful gardens before eating the lunches we had prepared.
My husband who is a novice cook enjoyed the session and learning the different skills. I very much enjoyed learning about the different ingredients and meals but I am a much more adventurous cook and did feel that I would have liked to have learned more. One of the ladies peeled and chopped most of my vegetables for me so all I really had to do was put everything in the tagine and add the spices.

I think this is an excellent session for beginners but maybe not for the more adventurous. However we did learn lots about what to look for in a tagine and have come home with 2 ready to amaze all our friends.

“Flavour of Morocco”

La Maison Arabe Cooking Workshops

Apr 2, 2008

We spent a wonderful morning learning how to cook some real Moroccan food and enjoyed eating the results for lunch. We have now tried to cook it back in England, but it just doesn't taste quite the same when it is cold and wet outside. Overall this was one of the highlights of our holiday and the memories of it will live on every time we cook a tagine.
