I arrived in Bangkok after travelling on the overnight train from Nong Khai to Bangkok, which is very basic! But even if I hadn't, I would still agree that the Amari Boulevard is very luxurious for a 4 star hotel.
We stayed in a deluxe room with a balcony, which was quite large, fitting in two big single beds and an extra bed with plenty of space. The beds were quite high and very comfortable, and of course covered in cushions!
The pool is in a nice area of the hotel (the 6th floor), but its quite noisy as the hotel is in prime position in Sukhumvit. The pool is always freezing though...even with the humidity of Bangkok.
I have to add that the breakfast in the hotel is amazing, with a huge variety of Asian and international breakfast foods.
The location is great, you step out of the door and you are right in the centre of the city, very close to the Skytrain and hundreds of bars/restaurants and the great streetside market.
