I think you should search for a better place. I am not saying this is a terrible hotel but not really good value for money.

Hotel is far from the city center but a 10 minute walk from the skytrain. Just as another tripadviser member, we were also charged for drinks we didn't order. Unless the other member I don't really had to "fight" with staff to cancel the charge. I don't had the drink I don't pay for it. End of story and no further discussion possible.

Reception Staff was also very average. This was the last of the 6 hotels we stayed in, so I guess my judgment is fair.

breakfast was good and the staff in the restaurant polite and charming.

If I return to Bangkok and I hope I will, I would look for another hotel with a better location.

“Pleasant BUT Watch out for Mini Bar / telephone charges!!”

FuramaXclusive Sukhumvit

PROS:
1. Close to SkyTrain
2. Good breakfast, included in price
3. Internet and some TV included

CONS:
1. A bit expensive for what you are getting
2. During checkout, we had to fight with front desk staff because of minibar and phone charges that appeared on our bill, which we did not use. The cost was very minimal (about 1/10 of our bill total) but we are positive the maids/other staff were eating from the minibar while we were away. We didnt have to pay in the end, after pleading our case for about 20 minutes (what a waste of time). ALSO, another group that was beside us at checkout had the exact same issue.

Probably wouldnt stay again for that price.

“Great value, excellent service, a real find.”

FuramaXclusive Sukhumvit

Jun 1, 2008

We booked this hotel for our first few nights in Bangkok before heading north.

The hotel is not exactly easy to find, so make sure you tell the taxi driver it's on Soi 1 off Sukhumvit Road. (it's opposite the Bumrungrad hospital)

The road itself looks more like a backstreet and off the main road, but once you get inside, the hotel and room we had was great. A bargain at £30 for the room. The room was large with a small kitchen area., very quiet, spotlessly clean, great complimentary water replenshied daily. Comfy bed, big tv, sofa, sitting area.

The whole place is kitted out to a high standard and is quite modern, there's free wireless internet throughout and two complimentray pc's in reception if you dont have a laptop.

The pool is small but adequate and not busy, we often had it to ourselves.

The staff were great, very helpful. this place is like a boutique hotel without the price tag.

The rate included breakfast which was fine, room service is also reasonable.

Some people say the location isnt great, i'd disagree, its a short walk to the end of the road, take a right and you're practically at Pleon Chit Skytrain station - the best way to get around the city in air con comfort! This walk is about 5 minutes.

“Price For A Room Not Worth The Service Standard”

FuramaXclusive Sukhumvit

May 17, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

Hi,

I am writing while staying in this hotel.. Came here for a treat for my wife to celebrate her birthday. Came on 16th May.

Went out for shopping and instructed for a room tidy up.When we came back we were shocked.Only bed made. Rubbish not cleared. Did not top up toileteries. Everything was left where i placed. Even the cultery cloth from the previous night room service was left in the room . Nothing was in order. So got the staff to have look at thier standard of service. I had my room changed.

The next room , notice a small torn or wall paper. The guest service bookelt had a lot scribbles on it. The door had to bang had to close. The flask was not working at all.

Did not want to make matters worse. So order room service. Ordered Salmon Steak which I enjoyed previous night,. Total different standard. The cheese was in the centre of the Salmon and there was no bun given ( previous night - nicely wrapped in a small cute basket) - had to request for bread for my wife.

No choice had to call the person in charge to come up and take a look

This is the worse hotel i had stayed in bangkok. The price is not worth the stay here. Even a 800 baht room - hotel- in petcuburi - I have stayed in - service is much better with good standard clean rooms.

Not a fussy man but service here has double standard. Paying a hugh price for a room with such low standard of service. and terible room service standard n room cleaning standard.

“Just the best value in Bangkok”

FuramaXclusive Sukhumvit

May 14, 2008

The Unico Grande Sukhumvit just offers the most amazing value. We paid around £35 a night through hotels.com including breakfast.

The rooms are modern, fresh and huge. King size beds, lovely crisp white linen, good bathrooms with tub and shower, aircon and easy access location for shopping centres like Centro World, Siam Paragon and bars of Sukhumvit. Around a 5 minute walk to Ploenchit Skytrain which can whizz you all over for a few baht.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style but offers a good selection of hot and cold food. Bonus is that it's served until around 11am.

We also found the room service to be excellent and cheap - try the fried rice, phad thai or delicious green curry. The minibar is also cheap compared with the UK, but the 7/11 opposite is really peanuts - we ended up stocking the fridge up from there!

The small pool is a welcome relief after a hard day sightseeing or shopping.
