“Wonderful retreat in Chiang Mai”

Fern Paradise

After the hustle and bustle of Bangkok we were ready for a change and we certainly got that with Fern Paradise.

A beautiful place. Accomodation was very unique and pretty yet had all the modern ammenities you need. It is set in such a quiet setting it really was wonderful

The breakfast was very good we had both traditional thai and western breakfasts and they were both very good.

Om was an excellent host - he helped us book a trip to a cookery school and sorted us out with taxi's whenever we needed them. Om's mother even bought my wife some flowers.

I do not understand the point that some people have made about Fern Paradise being far away from the city centre. Surely you knew this when you booked it (it really is only 10mins from the centre)? and secondly we did not find it a problem - we always got a taxi when needed and just arranged with the driver a time for them to pick us up (Patrick was an excellent driver - and had great knowledge of the area - we wished we had more time in Chiang Mai to do one of his tours).

Thank you again to Om and his family for making this one of the many highlights on our honeymoon

Fern paradise really justifies its name. The rooms are individual, the setting perfect and the service superb. The family are very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We can't wait to return.

“Great Nature and Cultural Experience”

My wife and I stayed three nights at Fern Paradise recently and were very impressed with the experience. The architect inspired converted rice barn accommodation was very spacious, whilst still including modern ammenities such as cable TV and DVD. All transport was capably arranged by Om and useful maps and information were provided. The highlight of our stay was Dr Niwat's tour that explained the interesting cultural aspects of his vision in creating Fern Paradise and culminated in a wonderful tour of his remarkable fern collection. As plant lovers we found the ferns amazing and Dr. Niwat was extremely generous with his time and knowledge and even gifted some spores. An unforgettable experience. Thanks very much to the Fern Paradise family.

“Get away from the hustle and bustle”

Absolutely amazing paradise. Very comfortable and rustic accommodation in a little piece of the area's history. Nick and his family couldn't have been more welcoming - nothing was ever too much trouble. It's a 10 min drive into town but transport was never a problem and the peace and quiet was welcoming.

“Fern Paradise, Chiang Mai Paradise!”

Fern Paradise

We stayed at Fern Paradise in Chiang Mai and it turned out a real gem! There are ricebarns that have been turned into cottages. The cottages are clean, have nice beds, tv and dvd (dvds are available), hot shower etc. The whole resort is covered in ferns so it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle.
Dr. Niwat has a passion for ferns and gives you a tour of the resort. Everything is kept really clean and the staff are very friendly. It is not like a big resort with room service and meals around the clock but if you want to have lunch or dinner you can order from the menu and it will be served about an hour later. The food was very good and at a good price. Breakfast is on a little terrace near a stream and consists of coffee or tea, fresh fruitjuice, everyday a different kind of fruit, eggs, toast and jam. We went on several tours in the area. We went on a private tour with Mr. Pon to the elephant hospital where there were victims of landmines and one of them, Mosa, got an artificial leg while we were in Thailand! We also went to The Elephant conservation Centre but we didn't ride the elephants because carrying a seat with people on their backs appears to be very painful for elephants. Another tour we did was to Chiang Rai, The Golden Triangle, Laos and Myanmar. This was also very impressive. We took a cooking class and we visited a traditional dinner show called Khum Khantoke. Everything was arranged by Fern Paradise and we enjoyed our stay in Chiang Mai very much. If there is one thing we did not like it was the fact that we had to pay for the transfer to and from the resort on arrival and departure. I think it would be nicer if this was already included in the total price. If we ever return to Chiang Mai we hope to visit Fern Paradise again.
