“Great Hotel for families”

Mercure Patong Phuket

My family and I had 10 nights in Patong at the Mercure. My boys are aged 6 and 9 and they loved it. We had a family room which consisted of a normal hotel room and a partitioned off "room" for the kids with bunk beds and a chest of drawers for them. The wall and lightshade was themed for the kids i.e aeroplanes/cars etc and they were given a soft toy each. The partition was just a curtain, but did the trick.
As this hotel is only a year old, everything was in pristine condition and fabulously clean. There was a bath in bathroom with a hand held shower head as well as separate shower.
The pool was fantastic, though was deep throughout, so not great for non swimming younger kids. We bought an inflatable ring for our youngest for not much money at all at a shop just down the road.
The website says there's a kids club, but actually there's just a kids room, about the size of an average kids bedroom, with a tv, xbox 360 console with two games, and a few toys, mostly suited to pre-schoolers or very young kids. it's unsupervised, so not what I call a kids club.
There was a swim up bar, where the drinks weren't priced too bad, compared with other hotels around the world we have experienced. And there was a happy hour!
The location is great. Just one block back from the beach and a short walk to the markets. Lots of restaurants right outside the door offering Thai and western food at unbelievably low prices.
We had a great holiday and would strongly recommend this hotel both for families and couples/singles/groups.
Note they have pool view rooms with balconies overlooking the pool and city view rooms that overlook dirty rooftops, so well worth the extra for the pool view. The family rooms are all city view and don't have balconies due to safety restrictions.
One last thing - the spa! - wow! I had two treatments while I was there. First a reflexology foot massage, which is very welcome after 29 hours travelling, along with a facial and then later in the week I had a two hour treatment including steam sauna, body scrub and aromatherapy massage. Both were only thb1000 - work it out in your currency - you won't believe it. The facility is fantastic and the girls are wonderful. Leave a big tip!

“Highly Recommended”

Mercure Patong Phuket

We spent a week at the Mercure 6- 13th September and loved every minute. I had requested a room with pool view and that is exactly what we got. The room was clean and large. The bathroom was lovely. The bed was a little too hard for my liking but I think that is a Thailand thing as I had a similar bed at the Sheraton the year before. The balcony was just perfect to sit and enjoy a drink or two. However we did not get the use we should have from it as Happy Hour was just too tempting. Mind you - if you want to, you can happy hour for 3 hours. First hour at the swim up pool bar, then onto the rooftop bar and then the bar at reception.
We liked Happy Hour at reception the best as they had 2 of the best singers there each night. And after a few Pina Coladas, they didn't mind us singing along with them.
On Friday night we had a seafood buffet dinner on the rooftop over looking Patong - with our lovely singers for entertainment. It was magical and we both commented what a perfect setting it would be for a wedding reception.
We had breakfast each morning and quite a few dinners as well - all were top quality and what I would expect from an Accor Hotel.
The Hotel location was perfect - Otop markets bascially next door and within walking distance to everything we wanted. There was a 7-11 next door if needed and if you stay here, make sure you go to Oasis cafe a few doors down and have a fruit shake. It's a meal on it's own.
Unfortunately for the Mercure, it had onyl 35% occupancy because of the previous weeks trouble. I think even at 100%, the staff would still be as good. Every single person working there was polite, smiling and helpful.
Thank you Mercure for a wonderful week and next time we are back in Patong, we will be booking here and no where else.

“Beware”

Beware, not a great start, on arrival we noted that breakfast was not included even though we had booked breakfast in our booking over the net, with it clearly stated on our recpet.
The managment very unhelpful after much discusion over an hour and he insisting we phone our bank . We finaly checked in deciding to for go the argument as we were tied not to mention our 5 children. WE were not alone with problems at check in.

The rooms nice, clean, breakfast below standard we decided to eat at the Holliday inn Fantastic for a similar price and staff much friendlier.

Pool great, Gym great,

We usually stay at the Holliday Inn this hotel dose not compare. the staff here could do with training from those at the Holliday Inn.
Not as friendly or polite or helpful.

This is our third trip to Thailand in the last 2 years, and our only below expectations experence.

“Best Experience Ever”

Mercure Patong Phuket

I can't speak highly enough of my experience during my stay at the Mercure. From the time myself and my two mates arrived we were treated like Kings. The staff were absolutely brilliant, anything we needed they would do their best to get it for us. The hotel itself is a great design, especially the pool area with it's swim up bar and great backround music. A great place to chill out during the day. In the evening the barbecue is brought out and the food was the best we had while in phuket. The BBQ is sometimes held on the roof bar with stunning views and great cocktails. I will definately be back there for seconds in the near future.....

“4 star value !”

Mercure Patong Phuket

We have just came back from Mercure on middle of July 2008. Their services are excellent and it is a wonderful hotel. Overall, we do enjoy our stay in Mercure. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. We had a 4d/3n stay at Mercure and we enjoy most of the time in the hotel. Location are great as you can find lots of shops, massage parlour, spa, shopping center and restaurant along the road.

For reservation, if possible, booked thru the Accor website. They do give a great deals and it is a reliable site for booking. Airport transfer offered by the hotel is slightly expensive than getting the airport taxi. No worries on transportation as you arrived. The airport have lots of airport transfer service available.

Check in process are fast but our room has not been ready due to high occupancy during the period. Just walk around and back in an hour time. One great thing we like is we were being informed on all available services in the hotel and the exact location of it. With this we are aware of the facility available without going to explore ourselves.

We love the rooms. It was spacious, clean, modern and equiped with all amenities. You can find slippers, umbrella, coffee facilities, tv and etc inside the room. Try to get a pool view room as it do give you a wonderful view. We really appreciate that the hotel do provide 2 big umbrellas. We have been making used of it day and nite as it was a rainy season throughout our stay. For the bed, it is comfy but the bed is a normal queen size bed rather than the king size bed as mentioned.

There's a kids room available on the ground floor. A small room but enough for a small kids to entertain themselve there. There are video games, story books and other games available.

The Venus Spa is not bad. The staff are professional and the price is not expensive either.

The pool is wonderful. It is big enough for everyone. There's a small jacuzzi pool and pool bar as well.

Do check out for the free activity daily at the hotel. Eg, there are yoga session, scuba diving, aquatic yoga, introduction to spa and etc offered by the hotel daily.

Right next to Mercure is the famous Patong OTOP market whereby you can find lots of souvenier, t-shirts, handicraft and bars. Dont' forget to bargain if you need to buy any stuff as the price offered are pretty expensive. If can, try to buy it from the shopping center. There's 1 big shopping center called Jungceylon along Mercure. Just 10 mins walk along the shops. Advisable to walk around the area if can as the transportation are rather expensive along patong area. One good advice, the tuk tuk price and taxi price are same.
