“dishonest booking”

Mutiny Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Titusville, Florida
Mar 29, 2008

Made reservations in December for a two night stay in March. Got a phone call while traveling to Miami telling us that the Mutiny had moved us to a "comparable" room at the Doubletree due to unexpected bookings. We had booked a suite with a kitchen at the Mutiny - at the Doubletree, we got only a room (not even a refrigerator), so not comparable, but we had to pay the same price as original booking. The manager at the Mutiny basically stonewalled any arguments we tried to make concerning our situation. Said we could have a complimentary night at some time in the future. Who would want to take the chance on booking them again? Definitely not us. We felt that this overbooking situation was not unusual for the Mutiny and that their honesty should be questioned.

Pro: Excellent Location that is a quick drive to downtown Miami and 2 minutes to CocoWalk shopping/dining/entertainment area. Comfortable rooms with North/South views that have the bayfront along the Eastern aspect. The front desk staff is generally pleasant.

Con: Overpriced. very limited guest ammenities. Fitness center is very small with outdated equipment. Concierges generally uninformed and with poor customer service. "Business center" consists of one small computer and desk inside a room that is about 30 sq. feet (smaller than a standard cell).

“Great place”

We never had problems during out stay unlike other posts, people have to understand that some condo hotels have limited service. This does not excuse room cleanliness, but we never had this problem. Overall hotel is nice and great location, rooms are big and beautiful. Pool are is small but a nice place to relax.

“Good Hotel - Good Location”

Mutiny Hotel

Stayed at the Mutiny the last week of June. It is about a 20 minute drive from MIA. The location is one the water in Coconut Grove and has decent views of Biscayne Bay. The hotel is located with a couple minutes walking distance of Coco Walk which is a nice collection of shops and restaurants.

The hotel was gorgeous when we walked up. You have to valet which is about $10 a day. We got to the rooms and they were nice. All rooms are suite style. They were pretty clean, though aged. Most are individually owned and rented when not in use.

All of them had stoves, microwaves and fridges. This was nice as there is a Publix about 10 minutes north and we all purchases breakfast items to save time.

The workout room was decent. A number of differnet options. The highspeed internet option is about the same as usual - $10 per day. There was a bar and restaurant attached to the hotel that were pretty nice.

All in all, if I got a decent rate I would stay there again. It is quiet and out of the downtown-ness of Miami, but close enough that it's only 10 minutes to Miami and 20 to South Beach.

“I would never stay here again”

Not a great place. Horrible beds, dirty dishes, rat poop on the floor. I was told there was a beach across the street. It was a harbor for docking boats. The front desk staff was rude. We walked in to a half roll of toilet paper and there was not another roll to be found. We had to use kleenex we had taken from our previous hotel. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but I was so horrified after the first hour I made arrangements to leave the next morning. If you like expensive shops this is a good place as the coco walk is right behind the hotel and since we were on the eight floor we did have an excellent view but I would definitely not stay here again. Yuck
