Awesome Awesome Awesome!!! We took the 5.5 hour tour on the final full day on Maui. Everything else we did leading up to that paled in comparison. What a blast! If you do one thing on Maui, this should be it. The great thing about Blue Water is that only 20 or so people fit in the boat so when you find a great snorkeling spot, you're not surrounded by 100 other people and getting kicked in the head all the time. Captain Brad and Seti were very competent and made the trip fun, with Captain Brad's iPod providing a fabulous soundtrack as we busted over the waves. We hit maybe 4 different snorkeling spots, some OK and some incredible, including the back wall of Molokini. Great tour of the Kanaio coast and lava caves.
This is a great trip for teenagers who are unimpressed by everything. Mine were grousing about having to get up early and make the drive from Kapalua, spending more time snorkeling to see the same old fish, etc. But as soon as we got past the boat ramp and Capt. Brad turned on the classic rock and we started jumping over the other boats' wake they were grinning from ear to ear.
Bring lots of sunscreen and sunglasses. Don't bother with a hat because you won't be able to keep it on anyway. There is dry storage that you can access any time during the day for things like a bag, camera, towels, cover ups, etc. Even if you don't snorkel YOU WILL GET WET! If you have a rash guard, bring it for warmth. If you get seasick, it wouldn't hurt to take a dramamine. My husband was glad he did.
