“Once in a lifetime experience”

Blue Water Rafting

5 of 5 stars
Scottsdale, AZ
Aug 24, 2008

After our kids raved about their 4 hour snorkel trip with the sea turtles and lava caves in the morning, my husband and I took the Molokini Crater Express tour in the afternoon. Shortly after arriving on the outer rim our crew spotted a 30 foot whale shark just off our bow. They urged us to jump in and swim with this gentle giant as it was truly a once in a lifetime chance. It was amazing! I can't guarantee a similar experience for you, but the boats are fast and the crews are fantastic. Hang on and enjoy the ride!

“Best time of our Maui trip!!!!!”

Blue Water Rafting

Our group of 15 went to Maui to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Deb recommended the Blue Water Rafting trip. We had the best time!!! Devin and Brad showed us many cool lava caves, blowholes, beautiful coastlines and great snorkeling!! I have been to Maui over 5 times but this rafting trip was the best!! Devin and Brad are great local guys who made this trip so fun and exciting! They were so helpful with everyone's gear and looked out for our safety as well. Great lunch too!! I saw many turtles, beautiful fish, and a stingray while snorkeling. It is obvious that Devin and Brad really enjoy their job and the people. Can I work on their boat?? Thanks Devin and Brad for making my 50th B-Day Maui trip a great memory. I am SO NOT a morning person, but this trip was worth rolling out of bed early for!!! I was wide awake after this trip! ALOHA! “Awesome Experience in Maui!!!”

Blue Water Rafting

We just returned from a 2 week vacation in Kihei, Maui. Our most enjoyable experience during our trip was the Blue Water Rafting excursion with Devin and Brad. Wow, what a one-of-a-kind experience!

We were initially concerned because there were 22 people on the raft, but very quickly our guides made all of us feel like one big happy family. Devin and Brad's knowledge of the sites, local folklore and wonderful sense of humor made the trip well worth the price of admission. We saw colorful fish and turtles, sea caves (with impressive blow holes), and incredible lava flows (including arches). We also had some really exciting "white knuckle" rides up and down the georgeous Kanaio Coast.

We had other great adventures while enjoying our annual trip to Maui, but the Blue Water Rafting trip was (by far) the best!!! We had a group of 9 friends on the trip and each one rated the activity as a "10" (out of 10).

Devin and Brad really worked hard to make this a memorable adventure. We would highly recommend this acitivty.

“Snorkeling with Capt. Brian and Devin”

Blue Water Rafting

On August 7, 2008, we drove to Kihei's boat ramp to wait for our raft trip to begin. After divvying up the passengers between the three rafts, we climbed aboard our boat, the Pineapple Express, with Devin. Devin was Capt. Brian's crew for the trip. Devin also has a Ph.D in English but decided he'd rather crew than "see another essay." We're glad he did!
The boats are firm bottomed but have inflated pontoons around the edge. Most people sat on these, holding on to ropes like reins. My 11 year old thought it was greatest thing when we started hitting the waves. And when there weren't waves, Capt. Brian would announce that we needed to check the steering and take us in circles so we could fly over our own wake. Or he'd cross the wake of another Blue Water Rafting vessel. It was some serious fun!
We all got very splashed (bring a waterproof camera!) and very wet (bring some WARM dry clothing!) and very hungry. Blue Water Rafting provided the lunch. It was delicious. We each made a sandwich (or two) from the sliced turkey or ham and added our favorite fixings. There was plenty of fresh pineapple and juices or water.
We stopped in several places to snorkel. For those of us who needed a little extra help, flotation devices were provided. How remarkable it was to put on snorkel and fins and see the fish and turtles come right up close.
Capt. Brian showed us different lava flow areas, told us about their ages and the creation of the island. At one spot, we watched waves crashing in a lava cave and turning to spray. Imagine our surprise when he actually backed the boat into the cave and we waited to be caught by a wave! Lots of squealing and laughing and shivering until we were under way again and the sun dried us out.
Capt. Brian and Devin were entertaining, interspersing their island lore with the corniest jokes. The captain brought his Ipod along and would play great rock and roll songs as he'd take us surging through the waves to each new spot. It was great having our own theme music playing!
When we came back to the boat ramp, they gave us the bread left over from lunch to feed the birds. Sparrows flew right to our hands, landing briefly before taking off with their own lunch. What a perfect ending!
Blue Water Rafting was very safe, exciting fun. We can't wait to do it again!

“Great Uncrowded Snorkeling Trip to Molokini”

Blue Water Rafting

5 of 5 stars
Portland, OR
Aug 17, 2008

We just returned from Maui and one afternoon took a high speed raft through Blue Water Rafting to Molokini to snorkel. It was a blast. We saw tons of fish, white tip reef shark, spotted eagle ray and much more. The best part was our family and the other two people on the raft were the only people there. We had the crater to ourselves!

The staff on the boat were knowledgable and a lot of fun. They were also great with our 4 kids.

You have to make reservations by phone, no online option is availalbe.

We would do this again!!
