“Quaint, Cozy, Really Good Deal”

Lahaina Inn

4 of 5 stars
dallas, Texas
Jun 18, 2008

Lahaina is a very unique little town anyway, and the Lahaina Inn fits perfectly with its surroundings. Very old, filled with anitiques, centrally located in the heart of of the little harbor town of Lahina. Late night check in consists of an envelope in your name on the front desk. If you want room service or personalized service, this is not the place for you. If you want to spend some time in a quaint, comfortable hotel with lots of history in an excellent location, then try Lahaina Inn. We also dined at Lahaina grill adjacent to the hotel which was very convenient. The rooms are clean and well decorated as well as the rest of the Inn. Filled with antiques and history, we spent some time "reading the walls" as well as enjoying our view of the harbor/ocean. It is in downtown so sleeping with the windows open is only an option if the noise from the street doesn't bother you. It gives you that "old west" feeling. We had late check in and early check out, so although it was easily done, we never had any contact with the staff. Overall, it was a very pleasant, comfortable stay.

“Lahaina Inn a pleasant surprise”

Lahaina Inn

Mar 16, 2008

The Lahaina Inn was a pleasant surprise as we were expecting the worst based upon reviews here, those people should have stayed at one of the characterless mega resorts elsewhere.

Stepping into the lobby was like stepping back in time, rustic and charming. The staff was always happy to offer info and very easy going.

The rooms are small but comfortable, you don't come to Maui to spend time indoors or watch tv.

And it was right in the middle of Lahaina which made it convenient.

We would definitely return if in Maui again!

“Enjoyed Our Stay”

Lahaina Inn

3 of 5 stars
Bremerton, WA
Mar 6, 2008

We really enjoyed the Lahaina Inn. It is an old hotel with cool antiques everywhere if you like that sort of thing (see picture). Price was low for the area. It's right off Front Street in the heart of all the action, but the rooms are nice and quiet, except as noted below.

We had two problems, which is why I rated 3 instead of a 4:

1. We booked through Orbitz, and they did not have the correct information for the room. It stated “standard room with full size bed, tv ....” The room had two twin beds (really cool old hand-carved oak beds, but not what you want on an anniversary trip!), and no TV. We didn’t care about the TV (there was a TV in the common room if we wanted one). The hotel clerk (the son of the owner, a really nice and helpfull guy) said they had problems with Orbitz’s information, and he seemed irritated that it was not correct. I don’t know who is at fault for that. The Orbitz site also has the cancellation policy, but it is cut off, so you don’t actually know what it is. I would recommend renting through the hotel to ensure that you get the room that you want and avoid internet sites even if they have lower prices.

2. As mentioned elsewhere, the truck noise outside in the mornings can be impressive. Saturday morning around 6:00 we started hearing truck noises, and then loud banging, like dumpsters being dropped off. It was like someone was pounding on a big metal dumpster with a sledge hammer for about two hours. Sunday morning it started again, but then stopped right away, like only one truck showed up, so that was not a problem. I guess the noise may vary depending on the day of the week.

I would recommend this if you want a reasonably priced hotel in the heart of Lahaina for a few nights. Rent through the hotel itself to get the best rooms. Ask them about the noise in the mornings from trucks and make sure you get a room away from the noise. Make sure your room has the bed arrangement you are looking for. If you want a TV, ask if your room will have one.

The hotel also has a common room with TV, tables, games, beach stuff, coffee, etc. Parking is provided in a lot a short block away; we had no problems finding a spot to load and unload our car right in front of the hotel when checking in and out.

“Romantic and comfortable ;)”

Lahaina Inn

Feb 8, 2008

Lahaina Inn is absolutely beautiful. Very quiet and very romantic.
First trip to Maui with my fiance and we could not have picked a better place to stay. We booked the Makai suit which is bigger than the others and had a day bed in it. If you have a love for antiques then you will fall in love with this hotel.
We sat on the balcony in the rocking chairs many nights and could
hear live music being played in the distance and we could see the
water. Only once did we see another couple on their balcony so
we had quiet romantic time.
I rent luxery condo's on Kauai and have stayed many places but
this one was my favorite! The maids came everyday to leave towels
and make our bed. There was central air conditioning which was a huge plus. We will be back every year and wouldn't stay anywhere else! I am completely satisfied with my stay at the Lahaina Inn ;)

“Great Place if you don't need a chain”

Lahaina Inn

Nov 12, 2007

First off, this is not the Four Seasons and you are not paying for the 4 Seasons. The affordable hotel is perfect for those on a budget and do not require high maintenance. You will not be able to call the front desk after 7pm, but again, this is not a chain
hotel. My wife and I bought a fifth of vodka, plugged in our iPod and went to the nearby Safeway to make our own Happy Hour before we hit the town. The room is clean, and I have yet to see a bug. Although if Jack Niclolson come running down the hall screaming "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", I might not be surprised. If you require the amenities of the 4 Seasons, then open up your wallet and pay their rate. This is a simple, quaint, yet, quite frankly, romantic place to stay. High maintenance people need to stay at the Marriott.. Those if us adventerous can sustain a place like the Lahaina Inn. If you don't like 2 stars... then PAY for higher stars... Lahaina Inn is great!
