“Great Vacation Spot”

Resort Quest Kaanapali Shores

I read reviews after we had booked this vacation spot and began to have doubts. I can tell you Kaanapali Shores is an ideal place to stay. We had a Garden View Room that had a fantastic view of the beach. The room was clean, the housekeeping excellent and staff friendly. We were pleasantly surprised from the lobby to the first opening of the door to our room.

Close to Lahaina and and excellent area to stay in. The pools were fun for the kids and the beach was beautiful, great for watching sunsets.

Having a grocery store across the street is convenient, and if you don't like it, there is another a short distance towards Lahaina.

If I had one complaint, that is the food in the restaurant is average. The service was, again, excellent as was the rest of our stay. The staff was up front with the parking and safe (we knew about the parking when we booked our vacation). Thanks for making our vacation so enjoyable. This is definitely an underrated destination.

“Amazing trip”

My husband and I spent a week at Kaanapali Shores in June. It was a dream vacation. The resort was beautiful. It is north of the busy Kaanapali Beach area. We liked that we were more secluded and in a quiet area. It was a short drive to our Luau at the Hyatt and the Trilogy sunset cruise.

The beach was short but very pretty and clean. The pools were nicely kept and there was always a chair available. The rooms were spacious and clean with a comfy bed! We were in a unit that had just been remodeled. The only trouble we had with the room was a closet door came off the hinges. We called the front desk and it was fixed the next morning. It was a great convenience to have a washer/dryer in the unit. We did a lot of hiking and it was nice to wash our clothes immediately. Our room included a $100 credit at the beach club, the on site restaurant. I read some poor reviews about the restaurant before we left. We experienced great meals and service at a reasonable price. We ate breakfast there twice and lunch three times for a little over $100! The macadamia nut pancakes and kalua pork are delicious!

I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to be away from large crowds of tourists but close enough to enjoy the activities on Kaanapali beach.

If you are taking a sailing trip I would recommend spending a little extra and go through Trilogy sailing company. They are very personable and they do not over crowd the boats. We did a sunset cruise and it was just breathtaking. They serve delicious hearty appetizers and you can bring your own bottle of wine! If you book a tour before you leave you can save 10% by booking on line.

If you want to attend one of the more famous luaus be sure to book a few weeks before you leave. We ended up using a buy one get one luau coupon from our resort. I called the resort to make the reservation for us the week before we left. We went to the Drums of the Pacific luau. It was fabulous. The narrator told the history of the island as the performers danced. The food was good and the mai tais were watery but the pineapple rum drinks were excellent.

We had an amazing time on maui! We saved a lot of money by eating in a few nights and using our resort credit. (there is a Star grocery store across the street from the Kaanapali Beach Resort and a Safeway in Lahaina). We stocked up at the Wal-Mart near the airport as soon as we got off the plane! We took picnic lunches with us when we did the West Maui Mountain drive and the Road to Hana. (there aren't many places to stop for lunch)

“Amazing Stay in Aloha suite”

Spent 4 nights in the Aloha suite at Kaanapali shores in November, 2007. Although the room was slightly dated and our kitchen not remodeled, the view from the "L" shaped balcony made me forget everything I would have normally found disappointing. The Aloha suites are ocean front and provide a spectacular view of the beach, pool and ocean, just yards away. We had many enjoyable , meals on the patio and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean with the balcony doors of the master bedroom open at night. Had not been to Hawaii in over 10 years and the return trip with our children was made very special by our stay here. The pools were great, the ocean in front was very swimmable for our kids ages 6-12. The restaurant was nice, with a good menu selection. After our 4 nights in the Aloha suite, (All that was available upon booking) We moved to the recently completed Marriott Lahaina towers. Although new and nicley decorated with granite countertops and stainless appliances, the view did not compare and the entire property much too commercialized for our tastes.

“Great Stay at Kaanapali Shores”

This was the second part of our vacation. After 3 nights in Oahu at a Marriott we spent 6 nights at Kaanapali Shores. I had booked a one bedroom Gardenview room but had requested a renovated room on a high floor. The room I received was perfect.

It had been renovated and offered what I would term a partial oceanview. It was spacious, clean, quiet and had everything you would need. There were four of us and it was a welcome relief over a hotel room.

The staff was very friendly. The grounds as has been mentioned previously were superb and beautiful. Yes, the beach was not as nice as in the main hotel strip but it was much less crowded and more relaxing. Plenty of chairs at pool and beach and towels were available whenever you needed them. We went to Black Rock and snorkeled and I am glad we decided to stay here instead of south of here.

We did have a few issues with plumbing but they were taken care of in a timely manner.

Restaurant had a decent breakfast and bar had good Mai Tai happy hour from 3:30-5:30 for $4.

“Be sure to lock up valuables”

My family recently spend 10 days at Kaanapali Shores. We had
2 rooms on 8th floor. The hotel was very nice, but we had a
bad experience with the maids. Had to leave room while maids
cleaned up and left ring beside laptop on bar. When we returned, ( as maids were leaving) the ring was gone ! We
questioned them, offered a reward, and reported it to security.
Little did they care.
Hotel was nice, but don't leave valuables in room.

We were very pleased to learn that another of our valued guests thought highly of the resort and enjoyed their stay overall.

With respect to the issue of the lost item, there is absolutely no indication, nor reason to believe that anyone on staff had anything to do with these visitors not being able to locate their ring. Our resort features electronic locks that track every entry to the unit. Our staff is aware of this, and as such know that the removal of any item would immediately result in bringing suspicion upon them. While we were certainly sorry to hear this ring was not where they left it, there is no reason to believe that it was taken by anyone on staff. We have a wonderfully devoted team that is most often the subject of compliments from guests. Mahalo.
