“Great Location”

The location is excellent. Had a room overlooking Market St, 8th floor, and it was a little noisy at night, specially ambulances/police in the middle of the night. The rooms are small. Would I stay again in it, maybe. The best thing of this hotel is it's location, the worst, the rooms should be a tad bigger and better window insulation. The service was excellent overall. Have been in SF many times all over the city and this is one of the better hotels we've stayed in.

Stayed here for a week in April 2008 and would very highly recommend. Very central location but rooms facing courtyard are very quiet. Excellent facilities and unobtrusive but very friendly service.

“Best stay I had in San Francisco”

Hotel Palomar San Francisco - a Kimpton Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at the Palomar this past weekend. Originally we booked one night, but extented one more night because we enjoyed it so much. (they even honored the same rate we paid for the first night although they were selling their rooms for more than twice as much on the hotel's website) - we paid $159/nite which was an awesome deal for this hotel.

We arrived around 11 am and to our surprise all of our rooms were ready to check in. My daughter received a little backpack with some toys, sponge, etc in it (a really nice touch which sold my daughter immediately). The staff was super nice and helped us with all of our needs. The bellman was very attentive and explained every single amenity in the room.

Parking is a little bit on the expensive side - valet only at $42/night but consider this: the hotel has a completely separate part in the parking garage underneath the property which is totaly closed off and diveded by a steel gate. At first I was going to self park in the nearby parking stucture down the street for $37/night, but after seeing the separated parking facilty, I decided it was much safer to park my car here.

Between 5pm-6pm the hotel has a nice wine/beer get together which is complimentary for hotel guests. We mingled with some guest from Germany, Holland, Belgium and Singapore.

We did not get a chance to try the restaurant but the front desk agent recommended two restaurants around the corner that were open late for dinner (Lulu's and Annabelle's were both great)

The Palomar is located on the corner of 4th and Market and is right next to the big Westin Mall (Nordstrom) and 1 block from the cable car stop.

All in all it was a near perfect stay - we are definitely coming back to this hotel.

(also Benjamin Bratt checked into the Palomar the same day as we did)

“Great location, lovely stay!”

I stayed here in May for 2 nights. It is a lovely hotel! The reception were very friendly. I had a room on the 8th floor which overlooked the courtyard. It was very quiet yet centrally located. The room was big and spacious. A nice place to come back to after a busy day with friends and sightseeing. It was definitely worth the extra few pounds over the other hotels in it's price range. The room came equipped with tons of gadgets! I didn't really get a chance to play with them but there was an iPod player, DVD player, cordless phones etc. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom had a bath/shower. There was a double curtain to keep the water in the bath. The hotel had wifi for people with laptops. I didn't have one so used a computer in the business centre although it is a bit pricey ($5 for 15 minutes) and it took credit cards only. When I checked out the concierge kindly carried my heavy suitcase to the car. There are not automatic doors into the hotel however the friendly concierge are happy to assist. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

“Great location, small rooms”

Hotel Palomar San Francisco - a Kimpton Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Palomar for four nights in June. As may be expected in downtown San Francisco, the rooms are quite small, but they were very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is also small. Also as expected in downtown SF, the hotel is expensive. If you're already spending that much, I'd suggest the chain hotels like the Marriott and the Westin nearby for larger rooms.

The location is great. Right around the corner is the Powell BART station, makes it easy to get around the city and to the outskirts. About a 1/2 mile walk to Chinatown and a mile to the Embarcadero. Definitely walk-able if the weather's nice, although that's asking a lot of San Fran. Very nice shopping and restaurants nearby.

Everyone in the hotel was friendly and helpful. The hotel offers free coffee/tea in the morning and wine in the evening.
