Great rate on Travelzoo.com - $139.00 for two doubles. Nick-Dal thought room was small, but perhaps has never stayed in a NYC 85 sf shoebox "boutique" hotel for $350 ... our Palomar room was HUGE! Well appointed, comfortable (except for the pillows; I dislike down, and the foam pillows that were brought up were hard as rocks). Staff was very friendly, but it took forever for them to bring our bags to the room. (Three calls to the desk and one personal trip to look for them; apparently there was one bellman on duty and couldn't deal with several people checking in at once ... we were late for an appointment because of that. When he finally did deliver the bags he said there would be a bottle of wine delivered to our room for our trouble, but the wine never materialized.) Towels were not changed daily, which didn't bother me, but it did bother my travel companion (there was no note in the bathroom indicating that towels would not be changed, as I've seen in other hotels). Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, so can't comment on that. Annabelle's Bistro just down the block had one of the best Ceasar Salads that I've ever tasted. Hotel offers a free wine tasting daily from 5-6, which is a lovely idea, but we were out sightseeing all day, and never in our hotel at that hour. Would have been a nice end to the day at 9 pm or so. Overall, good experience at the Palomar. Very clean, comfortable, friendly and quiet.
