We planned our wedding for the first week of September an we also planned on our families ( who were coming from very far ) to stay at another Hotel, due to one of our relatives having a Hyatt Gold card we all “agreed” on the Boston Hyatt Regency Hotel...Now in retrospect I can say WHAT A TERRIBLE DECISION. We got 4 rooms for 8 nights which you would think would entitle you to at least a discount on the overpriced parking (even for Boston) for at least one car one night, but “obviously” it didn’t.
Once you make it to the reception you are greeted by two staff members who’s “training” (if any) had taught them that smiling is by far the most important thing. The next morning we went down to have breakfast buffet (included with the room) which was supposed to go on until 11:00, one of the members of our group came down at 10:30 and with his worst face possible and manners suitable for an inmate the manager came to WARN us that the restaurant was closing; we finished breakfast around 11:10 and when tried to leave the table, once again our “jailer” stopped us with a check that needed to be cleared ,like if we were trying to steal breakfast. Once we showed this individual that we had breakfast included he asked us for our breakfast tickets... tickets, what tickets? oops the smiley personnel from last night forgot to mention or give us these precious tickets, giving our warden the chance to treat us even worse. Since this was my wedding week and had family coming from far away I swallowed my pride stopped arguing and payed the check but only to go to the smiley people to ask for the tickets, once there the new and fresh smileys were uncertain if someone had given us the tickets or not and had to check with their supervisor, after disappearing for a few minutes and coming back from talking to the wizard of Oz they all agreed on SENDING US to look for our tickets from under the door mats in our rooms. We left for the day and came bak in the evening, we went to the bar and sat down for a couple of drinks and dinner, 20 minutes for our waitress to come and give us the menu, and once we ordered we realized that she had gone to the same school as our morning “manager” we ignored all this, had dinner and called it a night. The next morning the drama with the Jailer continued since now we ALL arrived at 09:00 hrs but the he was now unhappy to put such a long table together and therefore took his time doing it; he assigned a waiter who obviously trained somewhere else since he treated us EXCELLENT. At the end we remembered about the tickets and realize there was another round to fight since not all rooms got their tickets. I went to smileys who said that not all rooms were entitled to tickets, since we made the reservations together and at the same time with one computer this was simply not possible so I asked to talk to the wizard of Oz directly who graciously agreed to talk to me and whose answer was that he did not know what had happened but that some rooms were actually NOT entitled. How is that possible?. At the same time we asked for our banking account statements to realize they had charged m card with $ 3000 from someone else’s room who had checked in and out 10 days before us. The wizard looked puzzled and had to talk to his supervisor so he disappeared for a couple of minutes and came back telling us it would take a few hour to fix and he apologized (now he apologizes) for the inconvenience. Inconvenience ??? getting 3000 dollars charged to you bank account while overseas is more than an inconvenience. the couple of hours turned into a couple of days. We decided to continue with our trip as planned. The day of the wedding came and we had a great time (obviously not at this hotel). We had reserved a newly wed package and suite at the same hotel and since it was already payed for we went for it. The morning after the wedding we decided to have breakfast in bed and we saved the Champagne and truffles to make a post-wedding toast with our families in the afternoon so we could all check out together, Champagne came in late and delivered under the teachings of the “Avenue One” restaurant Manager (the Moroccan Jailer). At the time of check out The Manager came down to give us the new balance (corrected) without the “accidental” three thousand dollars and at this time we realized they’ve charged twice for the newly wed package and twice for the in bed breakfast (which by the way is included in the package). This called for us to talk directly to the Wizard’s Wizard who came out after a couple of minutes of me discussing (not so calmly now) with the demi-wizard. He fixed all the charges after a rational discussion.
Bottom line if your idea is to come to the hotel to do some fighting, be treated poorly, be ready to not relax and stay on your toes watching out for extra charges.... this is the place for you
