“Excellent Experience”

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

5 of 5 stars
Columbus, OH
Jul 12, 2008

We stayed here for 4 nights while attending a conference and found our stay very enjoyable.

My plane arrived early and it was no problem to check in a couple hours early. The person at the desk was extremely helpful and very friendly.

The room was spotless and had a modern-looking decor theme.

One night I needed to grab a quick bite to eat and visited the New Leaf restaurant in the lobby. The hamburger that I got was delicious and the staff was very friendly and chatty.

One (very minor) quirk with our stay is that the light in the bathroom has a motion sensor so you have to wait 10 minutes for it to shut off automatically before going to sleep.

The hotel has free _wired_ internet to every room, which is nice. Unfortunately there is only 1 plug/cord on the desk, so with 2 laptops in the room we had to alternate. There is no wireless access.

“We Loved It!”

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Jul 10, 2008

Our Stay: July 5 - 12, 2008. Three guests in King room with rollaway bed. (which our son says was a comfortable bed.)

The upside: Clean, well-kept rooms and common areas.
Soft toilet paper and towels.
Duvets with comforters, as opposed to questionably clean bedspreads. Fluffy and plentiful pillows.
High quality toiletries and a full-sized, good hair dryer.
Good supply of in-room coffee supplies.
Comfy mattress.
Good black-out drapes.
Easy walks to restaurants, baseball stadium, Seaport Village, and downtown.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Clean outdoor pool, but it is small.

The downside: Noise from the train, but not enough to wake me (and I'm a light sleeper)
Not enough TV channel variety for kids.
No mini-fridge.
Valet parking is quite expensive, but seems to be in line with the rest of the neighborhood.
Business center offers computer use for .69/minute and charges per page for printer use. Plan ahead! (You can print your boarding passes free, though!)

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. I will rebooknot hesitate to rebook on a future visit.

“4 star Hilton/Great location”

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Jul 4, 2008

I just recently stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp. The hotel was very nice and worthy of its 4 star status. I had arrived at about 945 am and was able to check in to my room right away. The front desk agent was very polite and gave me a room on the 3rd floor, king bed as requested. The entire property is non-smoking which was great. My room was pretty spacious and had a small balcony that overlooked the pool and the convention center/trolley tracks. I sat out there both nights watching the people and taking in the view/breeze. The noise from the trains/trolley was never bothersome. The room also had a sofa and good size bathroom. They also have a nice pool area on the second floor and a small gym.

The location cannot be beat. The Gaslamp trolley station is right next to the hotel. I took it several times to get around. There are a bunch of nice restaurants in the area as well. The baseball stadium is about a 3-5 min walk and it’s about a 10 min walk to get to Horton Plaza . The entire neighborhood was very clean. Everyone was out exercising or walking their dogs. There is really not a need to rent a car since everything is within walking distance or near the trolley. I took the bus from the airport to downtown, then took the trolley a few stops to the hotel, very easy and cheap.

I would highly recommend the Hilton to anyone coming to San Diego . I got a great deal using priceline.

“Great Location! Great Hotel!”

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Jun 27, 2008

I stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp June 23 to 27 and absolutely loved it! The hotel staff was friendly, the hotel itself is very chic and trendy and you can't beat the location. I saw the Padres play the Twins--Petco Park is only 2 blocks away. The Gaslamp quarter is right outside the hotel doors and the convention center is across the street. ps--want a great cardio workout? Run up the steps at the convention center. It's KILLER! Anyway, this hotel rocks!

“Great Customer Service”

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Jun 10, 2008

I stayed at this hotel with a friend for a girlie weekend and was quite impressed with the hotel and certainly the service - particularly as the quality of Hilton hotels can vary widely. We shared a room with 2 double-beds and my only gripe is that the bathroom was a bit small. The rooms themselves are well laid-out and a good size - despite being located beside tram tracks, and opposite the Hard Rock hotel, they were really quiet! The hotel is in a great location, and we found the staff and overall customer service excellent. The Gaslamp area is in close walking distance, and we felt very safe wandering around. I would definately stay here again
